Yes, that's true *if you don't use it properly*. For example if you squeezed the handle, then pointed it away, then pointed it at the record again and squeezed and repeated that procedure, you'd get only one polarity of ions collecting on the record, so the charge would keep building up. But that's not how you're supposed to use it. For a lot number with a filling-code such as 05427ES-021, enter it as 05427ES (without the filling-code '-021').Hold the Zerostat within 12 inches (30cm) of the record surface. The record must be in free space, or the process will not work as efficiently.

I have a problem with my headphone listening system and static: if the LP is static-charged, the signal cuts out (or down). I believe this is because there is no grounding in my setup (1970s Marantz receiver and Pro-ject Debut III TT). It happens most often with 180g records, which I read is the usual. On my other, whole-house system, I don't have the issue because the TT goes into a phono box that is grounded. It’s impossible to rank second-hand vinyl in terms of condition, Rutger. Each Zerostat unit has a "two cycle" type of operation, when the trigger is squeezed, positive ions are generated and when the trigger is relaxed, negative ions flow. This means that it is possible to induce a charge on a neutral surface using the Zerostat. If the trigger is squeezed, and the Zerostat is then removed from the surface (and before allowing the trigger to return to its original position), a positive charge will be induced. Also, I thought both squeeze and release should be aimed at the record at all times, no?
