About this deal

I'm guessing that the dual-connector shown has a divider in the middle so that the waste pumped out by the D/W doesn't flow straight in to the W/M hose?! Often this will start to smell, especially if it's left for a few days in summer, as there's all sorts of gunk in the water that lurks in your drain. More often than not these are directly connected to the sink trap by way of a spigot (they can leak as well) as it is a cheaper and faster fit for the installer. The problem is of course that there's nothing and, I do mean nothing at all, to stop the dirtywater from your sink going straight down there and into the washing machine or dishwasher.

washing machine waste – horrid smell | Screwfix Advice on washing machine waste – horrid smell | Screwfix

Top left is a T piece valve that is inserted into the run of the pipe you are working on. The handle is colour coded for hot and cold. The appropriate washing machine hose screws onto the centre section and the handle turns the water on and off. To Insert this type of valve, a section of pipe 18mm long needs to be cut out of your feed pipe. We use a pipe slice for these cuts, this can be seen below and allows you to cut in very tight spaces. You clip it onto the pipe and turn to cut. There doesn't appear to be anything obviously wrong with that setup - the height of the hose connections on to the under-sink waste pipe look to be fine. Since this problem largely happens whilst the appliances are under guarantee it is very worthwhile pointing out that the appliance manufacturers will NOT pay for this sort of rectification work. So far as they are concerned (quite rightly) this is an installation issue and, whether you installed the machine yourself or a kitchen company, retailer or whoever did it for you, it's wrong. This is considered to be a poor installation and not a fault with the appliance.Water coming from the door suggest the door seal needs replacing, not a job I've done, I've heard mixed views on the successful nature of this exercise. Carefully consider the best location for your new washing machine, it should be somewhere convenient with easy access and close to a water source. Solvent weld waste: Again, cut and sand the pipe. Next, use solvent cement to attach the pipe to the fitting. So, I spoke to a friend and he says he'll have a look for me later in the week, but he's sure there's a dedicated valve/part that you can buy. Plumbing in a washing machine or a dishwasher is not a particularly hard job but some thought must be given to where you want to put them.
