Plug in your turntable, CD player, TVs, and game consoles into the E70 via optical or coaxial. Supporting 24bit/192kHz PCM and DSD DoP64 audio, the E70 will breathe new life into your favorite sources.

The rest is standard fare. You get some literature, a 3-prong power cord which in my case is for a 120v 60Hz power system, a Bluetooth screw-on antenna, the remote control, and a 4-foot USB wire. Oh, yea, batteries are not included and the remote uses two standard AAA batteries. The USB decoding chip is the famous XU208 from XMOS, together with custom drivers from Thesycon, D70 can natively decode DSD512 (basically a sample rate that is 512 times that of CD) and PCM up to 768 kHz at 32 bits. This DAC is priced very competitively, as TOPPING always provides, to offer maximum efficiency in terms of cost performance! Let's follow TOPPING!

In all honesty, D70 is having among the widest and deepest presentations I’ve tested in a DAC, no matter the cost. In this respect, D70 is fighting with the best I’ve tried. The unit’s body size is around 1.7 inches tall, 7.8 inches wide, and 5.4 inches wide so it’s a good size for a desktop setup. The included remote control indicates the E70 was also designed for home theatre use in mind where the E70 can act as an input switch plus inject a Bluetooth signal into your setup. Perhaps all those fancy caps and low-noise ICs made a difference in the sense that they produced a smoother-sounding DAC overall with perhaps the dynamic range aspect and dynamism character first place belonging to the E70. The L70 of course pairs up well with the E70 since they were practically made for each other. Using this combo proved to be a simple yet very effective audio setup solution. I call this setup a minimum interaction design combo. D70 is a fully balanced DAC, so it is normally to have an XLR balanced out and a single ended RCA out.AES input sounds about on the same level with USB or lower a bit, hard to tell, it sounded less tight and focused than USB but more natural and smoother. It is a preference thing, but I liked USB more. The E70 does not create as highs as the E50. The E70 sounds more natural, smooth and the vocalists' vibratos are better. I love a singer's vibrato. Midrange, Ah! The magic velvety midrange. It always grabbed my attention with a slight warmish tint. D70 is impressive mostly in this region, no matter the music you will be listening to, it will always sound natural, having a very good flow. D70 is somehow bonding all the notes together and caries all those to the listener in a very non-Delta/Sigma kind of way. I would consider the Topping E70 to be a slightly warm-sounding DAC although the general tonality is neutral. However, the dynamic range seems high which produces lots of energy behind notes.
