About this deal

If you are looking for a fun read to give you a breather from heavier works, or if you are a hardcore fantasy reader looking to try out some non-spicy romance, you could do a lot worse than The Foxglove King. As much as it is a heavily flawed novel, I absolutely do not regret reading it. It was that perfect fast-paced read that I needed, and so keep this one in mind if you ever need that book that is just kind of a mindless breather. The Foxglove King is a decadent and deadly feast of a novel, brimming with romance, intrigue, and twisted magic’C. L. Herman, New York Times-bestselling author of All of Us Villains And, despite the world being underdeveloped, it is often presented in an info-dumpy kind of way. This didn’t bother me too much since I don’t mind a little info-dumping in my fantasy books, but other readers might be turned off by it. As if you don’t know.” Lore shook out the hand that had touched Pierre’s shoulder, trying to banish pins and needles. It’d grown easier for her to sense Mortem recently, and she wasn’t fond of the development. She gave her hand one more firm shake before heading into the kitchen. “End of the month, Elle-Flower.” Oh, you didn’t hear? I received an invitation to the Sun Prince’s Consecration. I wasn’t going to go, but rumor has it there might be an orgy afterward, and I can’t very well turn that down.”

She couldn’t miss either of them for long. People came and went; her only constants were her mothers—Val and Mari—and the streets of Dellaire she could never leave. As for the gods, I thought this part of the book was a bit familiar. There are a lot of fantasy books that deal with a religion that has been built up around one god after the destruction of a larger pantheon that came before. So, too, the relationship between a god of life/light and a goddess of darkness/death. The book played its cards pretty close to the chest with these themes, however, leaving a lot of questions still to be answered in this area. But I also feel fairly confident that I know where this is going, and it might read familiar to other readers as well. Who knows though? As I said, we don’t get any clear answers here, so Whitten could still surprise me! Dellaire was easy to navigate. Lore had heard tales of other cities—chaotic and winding, byways butting into themselves—and the concept seemed entirely foreign to her after half a lifetime spent in Dellaire’s well-organized roads. The Four Wards at ordinal directions, the western two coming up against the sea while the eastern led to Auverraine’s rolling farmland. The Church in the city’s center, built in a circle, guarding the Citadel within. Lore gave him a winning smile. Standing, she yanked up the shoulder of her dressing gown. “He better.”In this lush, romantic epic fantasy series from a New York Times bestselling author, a young woman’s secret power to raise the dead plunges her into the dangerous and glamorous world of the Sainted King’s royal court. When Lore was thirteen, she escaped a cult in the catacombs beneath the city of Dellaire. And in the ten years since, she’s lived by one rule: don’t let them find you. Easier said than done, when her death magic ties her to the city. There was barely enough coffee in the chipped ceramic pot for one cup. Lore poured all of it into the stained cloth she used as a strainer and balled it in her fingers as she put the kettle over the fire. If there was only one cup of coffee in this house, she’d be the one drinking it. At least you didn’t scream this time.” Michal took a long drink from her proffered mug, though his face twisted up when he swallowed. “No milk?”

I am obsessed with this book! Hannah Whitten just keeps getting better and better' Katee Robert, New York Times-bestselling author Pierre!” Lore shot him a dazzling grin, the same one that made Michal’s eyes simultaneously go heated and then narrow before he asked what she wanted. Another twist against the doorframe, another seemingly casual pose, another bite of wind that made a curse bubble behind her teeth. “It’s the end of the month already?” But the life she left behind in the catacombs is catching up with her. And even as Lore makes her way through the Sainted court above, they might be drawing closer than she thinks. Our servers are getting hit pretty hard right now. To continue shopping, enter the characters as they are shown Here’s what’s going to happen,” Lore murmured. “You are going to tell Nicolas that we’ve paid up for the next six months, or I am going to tell him you’ve been spending his coin on deathdealers.”Darkly sumptuous and beautifully dangerous, The Foxglove King wraps you up in a velvet gown and then holds a knife to your throat’Ava Reid, Sunday Times-bestselling author of The Wolf and the Woodsman Darkly sumptuous and beautifully dangerous, The Foxglove King wraps you up in a velvet gown and then holds a knife to your throat." - Ava Reid Michal left, that same step squeaking on his way down, the windows rattling when he closed the door. Lore heard Elle heave a sigh, as if her brother’s job were a personal affront, the thin walls making it sound like she was right next to Lore instead of all the way on the first floor.

Lore twiddled her fingers in an exaggerated wave as the door closed. Part of her would miss Elle when the spying gig was up, when Val had a different running outfit she wanted watched instead of Gilbert’s. A lazy smile lifted his mouth. Michal sauntered over, cupped her face in his hands. “Are you worried about me, Lore?” I’m going to forego my usual summary chapter, and instead talk a bit about the fact that I think the official book’s summary is a bit misleading. It’s not truly important, but I think Lore’s connection to the catacombs is much more complex than “she escaped a cult and is in hiding.” I also think there are simply bits of the few sentences about this aspect of the book in the summary that are just factually wrong. I’m always mildly fascinated when there are discrepancies like these in book summaries. Was there some purpose behind this choice? Did the summary writer only skim the book and this was an accident? Who knows? Beyond this, the rest of the summary seems clear enough. The Foxglove King is a decadent and deadly feast of a novel, brimming with romance, intrigue, and twisted magic' C. L. Herman, New York Times -bestselling author of All of Us Villains Set in a glittering world of twisted magic and fallen gods, The Foxglove King boasts an intoxicating combination of mystery, magic and romance, twined with impeccable tension and characters I instantly became obsessed with. I could not put it down." - H M LongThe Foxglove King is a decadent and deadly feast of a novel, brimming with romance, intrigue, and twisted magic' C. L. Herman, New York Times-bestselling author of All of Us Villains The Foxglove King is beautifully written, lushly cinematic, unsettling, mysterious – an unputdownable story’ Ali Hazelwood, New York Times-bestselling author of The Love Hypothesis Michal should be dealing with this. It was his damn row house. But the drop he’d made for Gilbert last night had been all the way in the Northwest Ward, so Lore let him sleep. The romance in “The Foxglove King” is more than just a simple love story — it’s a complicated affair that adds a layer of tension to the plot. Lore finds herself caught in a love triangle, or perhaps even a love square, that will make readers eagerly await its resolution. The forbidden nature of the romance adds another layer of complexity to the story, making it all the more compelling.

Elle rolled her eyes so hard Lore was surprised she didn’t strain a muscle. “There is something deeply off about you.” People with power resent losing it, and too much power for too long a time can make a villain of anyone.” In this gilded, gothic, and romantic new epic fantasy series from New York Times-bestselling author Hannah Whitten, a young woman’s secret power to raise the dead plunges her into the dangerous world of the Sainted King’s royal court. Be careful tonight,” Lore said, then immediately clenched her teeth. She hadn’t meant to say it. She hadn’t meant to mean it. If you are a fan of the central love triangle in the Shadow and Bone series (note: I am basing this off the TV show version and not the book, although I am told they are fairly similar) you’ll love what Whitten does here. Lore is trapped between two men: her childhood friend and now warrior monk Gabriel and the dark, brooding heir to the throne Bastien. Whitten nicely develops both of Lore’s potential love interests, crafting them as flawed yet viable objects of Lore’s attentions. Gabe is noble (and technically celibate) but is single-minded in his devotion to his religion while Bastian is insecure but sees the larger picture. What was also refreshing is that Bastian, while definitely modeled after the “antagonist the girl thinks she can change” type, doesn’t fully fit that archetype. He isn’t evil incarnate (although his true motivations and allegiances are one of the mysteries running through the book) and he is not a complete jerk. He is level-headed and kind enough that you can see why Lore might be attracted to him while also acting as a good foil to “good guy” Gabe. Is that why you look so disheveled?” Elle’s mouth pulled into a self-satisfied moue. “He could get it cheaper across the street.” Sinister, deadly and so seductive you won’t be able to tear yourself away from this dark gem of a book’Stephanie Garber, New York Times-bestselling author
