About this deal

Same here, I travel about 800 miles per week, mainly around the South-West and I just got fed up with the thing losing signal all the time. Even the national channels were cutting out. As said, if you have a phone, especially with an ulimited'ish data contract I'd try streaming off that, wouldn't be as convenient though. This DAB adapter is easy to install, but you can pay to get a professional from somewhere like Halfords to install one for you if you’re unsure about how to do it.

The Pure Highway 400 consists of three main parts: the receiver which you place inside the windscreen, and the antenna which is placed externally on the windshield, and finally wireless controller which is attached to the dashboard. Mine still works very well, but as I said above only really worth it if you travel a lot and mainly on the motorways. Would think buying one for jobbing around town or the occasional journey into the country would not be worth it.Other than that, before I did what the earlier poster did with the aerial lead I was well impressed with the Highway and will replace it if this one is unfixable. It’s not worth running through the entire installation as part of this review, but there are some key things to note. Firstly, the antenna must be positioned as high as possible on the windscreen and at least 4cm from the side of the screen. But some relatively young cars still didn’t have DAB fitted at the factory, and changing the entire stereo for an aftermarket system is expensive and could lose functionality from a built-in infotainment system. If, like me, your looking to get DAB radio in your car without ripping out your existing radio then this is for you. On the plus side, the instructions are the clearest of any we experienced, and the unit is simple to fit. The display is clear and easy to use, too, but unfortunately the DAB reception wasn’t great, with frequent drop-outs even on stronger stations. If you can’t use the (supplied) aux-in cable with your car, the FM transmission is also far too weak, making it unusable.

Highway comes fully equipped with service following capabilities, helping to reduce potential drop-outs and maintain consistent reception from one journey to the next. With the ability to automatically switch over to the strongest available transmission in any area, Highway provides a more reliable and seamless listening experience, without having to retune. When I plug the power lead in the display lights up for a couple of seconds then goes out.Sometimes it will work for a minute or two before switching off. The sound quality depends on the quality of your car’s speakers, but if they are high-quality, the Pure Highway 400 is capable of producing a great sound, with more detail than you’d get from FM, provided you have a good DAB signal. If you’re planning on keeping your car long term, or have a ‘forever car’ the Highway 200 can be permanently fitted, it just requires a bit more ingenuity.Be very very careful with the update process - is not explained clearly and the controls are a little hit and miss.
