After the success and fun of November & December 2017 – 2019 & 2021-2022, The Polar Express™ Train Ride is returning to the Mid-Norfolk Railway again in 2023 with the magic of the 2004 motion picture The Polar Express™ being theatrically re-created so you and your family can be immersed in the sights, sounds and intrigue of this classic children’s tale. Prepare to be surrounded by the magic and wonder of the Christmas season! It also features 2 movie announcements (‘All Aboard, this is The Polar Express’ and ‘I am the King of the North Pole’) The consist includes the No. 1225 2-8-4 steam locomotive and tender. The engine is equipped with a smoke unit and traction tires and features some neat detail including a bell and whistle. The tender, connected via a snap-together drawbar, houses the electronic sound unit that includes chuffing, the whistle, and crew talk. This set features a coach with a hobo sitting by a campfire that can be flipped over to produce a “normal” roof. Note the footprints, too.
Before we know it ,we will reach the North Pole at Christmas Town where Santa Claus himself is waiting to climb on board along with his wondrously naughty Dancing Elves. Each child will be greeted by Santa as he makes his way through the train and presents them with a special Train to Christmas Town gift. Be ready to join in The Dancing Elves will have the whole carriage singing and dancing along to your favourite Christmas songs. It’s not your father’s Lionel set, though it will provide just as much fun – if not more! The Polar Express from Lionel It comprises 1 x locomotive engine, 1 x engine tender, 1 x train carriage and 1 x observation carriage (requires 6 x C batteries , not supplied) The three-car consist includes two coaches and an observation. One of the items that distinguishes the set is the hobo having a fire on top of one of the cars. The element can be flipped over of you want the car to have a “normal” roof. Once the Weardale Railway Conductor makes his “All Aboard” call you will be transported into a magical atmosphere created by caroling elves ready to board the Train to Christmas Town, where the magical elf folk are waiting to share the spirit of the season with everyone as we make our way to collect Santa Claus. The movie announcements are operated by the remote control (requires 3 x AAA batteries, not supplied) It also features 2 movie announcements ('All Aboard, this is The Polar Express' and 'I am the King of the North Pole', in addition to light and looping sounds (stream chuffing, whistle, and bell) and a 3-position switch (stop, forward with sound and forward without sound). Requires 3 x AAA batteries and 6 x C batteries.
You will travel through an enchanted forest which is transformed by a multitude of lights and surprises. You will then arrive at Levisham Station, where a dazzling light show will begin. Experience a light extravaganza and a snow covered authentic heritage station, like you’ve never seen before!
During the journey our train staff serve the children with a drink and chocolates. Parents and other adults are not forgotten with a mince pie and either an alcoholic miniature, wine or a hot drink.
