About this deal

When we see a star projector we like the look of, that has plenty of functionality and sits at a reasonable price point, we get hold of one for ourselves so we can put it through its paces and give it an honest hands-on review.

Operation is manual rather than digital, but you can access additional informative descriptions of the pictures on the slides online using a provided 'secret code.' This allows children to learn more about the different space objects and concepts depicted in the slides and adds fun and mystery to learning. The Pococo Galaxy Star Projector is a worthy addition to this guide, and it is a good rival to the National Geographic Astro Planetarium and the much more expensive Sega Homestar Flux. During our full Pococo Galaxy star projector review, we found it a good value star projector with decent build and projection quality. The Pococo Galaxy is a simple, pleasant shape. The model we reviewed had a blue and pink paint job but it's also available in white. (Image credit: Tantse Walter) A young child might prefer the Dinosaur Egg Galaxy Star Projector that we reviewed recently. Like the aforementioned SkyLite Evolve, it isn't scientific or educational, but it's a novelty item to add ambiance to a room or to use as a sleep aid. The hatching dinosaur egg design will appeal to any young space or dinosaur fan, as will the novelty astronaut design of the Astronaut Starry Sky Projector. We were really impressed with the Orzorz Galaxy Night Light when we reviewed it recently. It easily rivals the Sega Homestar Flux in terms of image quality and functionality and comes at a fraction of the cost.

If you are looking for a high-quality star projector that produces bright, colorful, and sharp images, this is a great choice.

On top of the Bluetooth speaker, there is also in-built 'white noise' functionality, presumably to be used as a sleeping-aid first and foremost. There's a catalog of 19 different sounds from a cow moo-ing and a dog barking, to more sleep-appropriate 'watery noises,' piano tunes and 'standard' white noise. The best star projectors can either be used as home planetariums, projecting realistic night skies and galaxies indoors, or they can serve as soft, glowy night lights for adults or children. The U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) states that ' The FDA recognizes four major hazard classes (I to IV) of lasers, including three subclasses (IIa, IIIa, and IIIb). The higher the class, the more powerful the laser is and the greater the potential to pose serious injury if used improperly. ' Each of the individual disks come in their own plastic case. We can't help but think there would be a more environmentally friendly way to store them safely. (Image credit: Tantse Walter)

The projector's box is eye-catching. It is nicely designed and would be nice to receive as a gift. The pink and blue shaded box has 'shelf appeal' and would appeal to kids as a night light as well as a young/teenage audience. Pococo even includes a little postcard to use as a gift card which we think is a nice touch. The colors of the lights and lasers are vivid, and the dedicated app still affords you many customization options in terms of color mix, speed, timing modes, brightness and so on. Be mindful that the app is connected over Bluetooth and not Wi-Fi, so you have to be pretty near it to make any changes to the settings — if you're looking to control it remotely from a different room (e.g if it's in a child's bedroom and you don't want to disturb them), you'd probably want to consider something that is connected by Wi-Fi. Unlike some other models, we found it to be near silent in its operation, which is great if you're using it to get to sleep or whilst watching a film. There is a shooting star function, but this leaves a little to be desired, and we think it's an unnecessary add-on.

Not all star projectors are scientifically accurate — some are designed to be pleasant ambient lights to be used as kids' night lights or just to create a relaxing atmosphere. However, some models are scientifically accurate and create a planetarium in the comfort of your own home — these include the the Sega Toys Homestar Flux, National Geographic Astro Planetarium and Bresser Junior Astro-Planetarium Deluxe. What is the difference between a star projector and a planetarium? During our Aurora Borealis Northern Lights Star Projector review, we were impressed with the musical rhythm mode. It does a great job of altering the lighting display to match the 'feel' of the music, and the sensitivity of the microphone can be adjusted for a more or less powerful light display, making it perfect for parties. Astronaut Starry Sky Star Projector:A well-made novelty star projector that every kid, or space fan, will love to have in their bedroom. It isn't quite on par with other star projectors performance-wise, but it does everything we'd expect of it, given its reasonable price. ★★★★ In comparison to the Atmosphere Smart Galaxy Projector, the Ambience Galaxy & Star Projector has fewer lighting modes available, but it doesn't suffer for it. It offers four colors: blue, green, white and red, and users can blend these colors using the supplied remote control and adjust the brightness to their preference.Despite its compact size and unassuming appearance, this USB-powered projector is powerful for transforming any room into a celestial-like wonderland. When connected to a USB power source, it projects hundreds of laser stars in a single color, creating a truly immersive and atmospheric experience. Whether you're a gamer looking to enhance your gaming environment, a parent looking to create a magical bedtime routine for your child (ensure they can't look directly into the beam), or simply someone who appreciates the beauty of the cosmos, this star projector will surely delight. Ever wondered how to make a star projector? Sold as the 4M Night Sky Projection Kit, (or in the U.K. as the Science Museum Create A Night Sky) this cardboard cut-out might not seem at first to be a worthy addition to our list of the best star projectors. After all, what's on offer here is merely some tiny holes in cardboard positioned over a lamp. The resulting image is pretty basic, of course, but how you get there is the clever part. A multimedia home planetarium designed with a younger audience in mind. Use the time & date selector to see what the sky looks like at any given time. Despite being an inbuilt Bluetooth speaker, which can often be poor quality, it speaker delivered a surprisingly high-quality performance with excellent sound clarity and detail. The adjustable sound settings are a nice bonus, allowing you to customize the sound to your liking and to different genres of music. As we confirmed in our BlissLights Evolve review, the operation is near silent like the Sky Lite 2.0. The Bliss Lights Sky Lite Evolve would be perfect in a gaming room, during a party, at a movie night or as a relaxation tool to unwind or drift off to sleep with. There are three models in the range — blue, green, or no lasers.
