About this deal

The durable poly flysheet won't falter in arduous conditions and will give you years of service, being very waterproof (rated to 5000mm) and treated with a fire-retardant coating which will self-extinguish if exposed to flame. It is also on the weighty side, at 4,200g. This would probably need to be divided up between the 2 of you if you are hiking to your camping spot. I have used this tent only twice but both times ive been impressed. I like that it can be split into 2 seperate bags to share the load.

Particularly attractive is the hydrostatic head of 5,000mm for the fly and 7,000mm for the groundsheet. These will help you keep dry in any of the 4 seasons this tent is designed for in the UK. There’s a hanging point both in the inner pod and front porch for hanging lights or head torches (that’s what we did). Storage – This is the area in your tent where you can store your kit, that isn’t your sleeping area. If carrying a lot of gear, make sure your 3 person tent is big enough for you and your gear by having a large storage area. With that end being just that little bit lower, it’s a little more aerodynamic and experiences less buffeted by the wind. Also, on the aerodynamic front, the mesh pole sleeves that reduce wind resistance are a must. They lower the amount of wind resistance and tent movement often experienced on similar tents without them.Bedroom Space – This is the amount of space designed for sleeping in. This is usually the main inner tent At 3,800 grams, this tent is potentially a bit too heavy for one person to carry, so you may need to share out the load between you.

The poly flysheet is designed to withstand even the harshest conditions, further enhancing the tent's durability. With a high waterproof rating of 5000mm, the flysheet provides excellent protection against rain and moisture. Additionally, it is treated with a fire-retardant coating that adds an extra layer of safety. In the unlikely event of exposure to flames, the coating will self-extinguish, minimizing the risk of fire. New for 2016 are the Yunan T6 tent poles which, with their Japanese grade Aluminium and bespoke Korean engineering, are made to perform in all conditions whilst maintaining their integrity over many years of use*.

For new wild campers, this tent would be a great option, as well as those who are maybe looking to upgrade from a much cheaper tent. That got us thinking though, that we’re looking at every possible item from OEX so it would be good to narrow our search down even further and only look at OEX branded products within the 3 – 4 Person Tents category. The cost of OEX 3 – 4 Person Tents The groundsheet is pre-attached, making pitching easy and keeping insects out, while the extended front porch gives you room to relax and plenty of space to store your gear.

Pitching the tent is a breeze thanks to the pre-attached groundsheet that also keeps insects out. The central lobby area has plenty of room for relaxing or storing your gear. Plus, with doors on both sides, you can choose the best entry point based on the wind direction. These doors can also be used as vents to keep you cool during warm weather. Tent Style – This is the shape of the tent. Styles include Tunnel, Dome and Ridge, as well as many others The is a great tent for those who want extra storage space for their gear, as well as more than adequate protection from the rain. The hydrostatic head of 3,000mm for the fly and 6,000mm for the groundsheet will keep you dry in nearly all weathers the UK can throw at you.

Overall this is a great tent for those looking for a trusted brand with a high level of weatherproofing.

The tent offers flexibility with doors on each side, allowing you to choose your entry point based on the prevailing wind direction. These doors can also be opened as vents, promoting airflow and ventilation during warmer weather conditions. Waterproofing – This is measured by Hydrostatic Head, which is how large a column of water your tent could resist With a hydrostatic head of 6,000mm for the groundsheet and 5,000mm for the fly, there is very little that could penetrate this tent. This tent is on the heavier side, weighing 4,300g. This will need to be split between you for carrying. The hydrostatic head of 2,000mm for the fly and 3,000mm for the groundsheet is a little low, meaning this tent would be better for milder weather conditions. After months of searching and disagreements we bought 13 of these for out Scout group about a year ago. Overall very good - easy to put up, splits into 2 bags for easier carrying if hiking with (both go into an even bigger outer bag if no need to split). Our Scouts love them and find easy to put up and down which is a bonus. If you are after a tent for getting started with wild camping, this tent offers you a good balance between price, size and weatherproofing. The Nomad Tellem 3 LW tent is the heaviest tent on the list at 4,940g, but for its weight, it provides you with a large amount of space for storage. I said that there were snow flakes in the air on the morning we woke on Loch Morlich. Well lets just say that the drive to Loch Muich was rather entertaining, as was he walk from the carpark to the Loch.
