Whether you're looking to build your very own NAS or a more compact cube PC, the Fractal Design Node 804 is a solid choice. It has excellent cooling performance thanks to its array of vents and countless fan mounts. The ability to install up to 10 3.5-inch drives is also a highlight feature, especially for servers with a lot of data to hold. Most of you may not know Fractal Design, but the company has been making a splash with their unique enclosures for a competitive price. The company also sells power supplies, case fans, and a few accessories. I found I had to run the system fans at too high a speed (too noisy) to cope with worst case heat generation. The top plays host to four fan mounts as well as a filter cover while the rear of the Node 804 is a similar PC case affair with five horizontal PCI slots and two fan mounts. Being a cube design, you can get away with additional airflow through the rear panel whilst having room for an ATX power supply to be fitted. There's room for CPU coolers up to 165mm tall, which allows for some quite serious third party offerings, though a liquid chiller may make more sense. Storage: Couple of WD RED drives (2x10Tb, 1x8Tb - from my current NAS and External drive), Samsung 840 Pro 128GB SSD (not sure now for what it will be used) - I've them already This thread contains a very instructive Node 304 / Xeon D build report (original fans replaced by 4-pin Noctua fans controlled by the mainboard).

The Fractal Design 804 is actually a fairly old PC case at this point, but I'm reviewing it more as a NAS or server chassis than a PC, though you can absolutely set up a gaming PC using this thing. In fact, after removing the HDD cages, you could even go all out with some custom water-cooling, should you be feeling particularly adventurous. Having though this through, I decided that getting a modular ATX PSU is pointless. It raises the price and only results in compatibility issues in Node 304. :/ I suppose the only reason for the extra expense to replace the already included Fractal's Silent Series R2 140mm and R2 92mm fans with Noctua's A14 and A9 PWM respectively is PWM. Otherwise they appear to me very similar spec-wise. theMetal - Air cooling works well in the case. From what I've seen I'm almost positive any heat sink will fit in the case and fit is more determined by your itx motherboard than the case its self.Google Chrome keeps a separate DNS cache, so it is necessary to flush DNS on your computer as well.
