[7] However, Nikon kept the D7000 in its product lineup for at least several months. [8] Feature list [ edit ] D90 owners have been waiting for a replacement camera for a while, and although the D90 isn't set for retirement quite yet, the D7000 certainly represents a compelling upgrade. It took longer than we'd hoped for a production D7000 to be supplied to us, but now that we've had one for a a few weeks we've been able to produce an in-depth review. Read on to find out what we think of Nikon's newest DSLR... Nikon D7000 Key Features

The Nikon D7000 [2] is a 16.2- megapixel digital single-lens reflex camera (DSLR) model announced by Nikon on September 15, 2010. It replaced the D90 as the top end consumer camera, by using much of the technology and controls from the earlier D5000, in a larger more robust body similar to the flagship D300 series. In some ways it was superior to the D300S, though for several years the two cameras were both available with the D300 positioned as the flagship in Nikon marketing materials. The camera performed much betr den my expectations and is worth its price. Its has a whopping shutr speed of 6 frames per sec. I m satisfied wid dis cam. Moreover it has great image quality with good battery.Supports wide range of lenses and has Autofocus motor inbuilt for AF lenses. Though it has quite a bit in common with the Nikon D90, the control layout is very similar, the D7000's construction is closer to the Nikon D300S's as both cameras have a magnesium alloy body shell rather than the polycarbonate version of the D90.Tethered shooting with Nikon Camera Control Pro 2, [34] Adobe Lightroom 3 [35] or other partly free products including apps. [36] [37] [38] New EXPEED 2 image processing: achieves higher image quality, higher speed processing and multiple functions, with lower energy consumption As a nod toward semi pro status it also features twin media card slots so there’s less chance of ‘weekend warriors’ who shoot weddings and the ilk in their spare time getting caught short of storage. Tellingly, it was the first device we reached for when asked to shoulder the responsibility of visually commemorating a friend’s landmark birthday celebrations during our test period. Warranty does not cover any external accessories (such as battery, cable, carrying bag), damage caused to the product due to improper installation by customer

Positioned alongside the D90 and D300S, the D7000 is clearly a lot closer to the former than the latter in terms of its size and control layout. The similarities between the D90 and D7000 don't run much deeper than the surface level though - where specifications are concerned, on paper, the D7000 at least matches and frequently surpasses the abilities of the D300S in several key areas. Instant single-servo (AF-S); continuous-servo (AF-C); auto AF-S/AF-C selection (AF-A); Full time AF (AF-F); manual (M) Auto modes (auto, auto [flash off]), Advanced Scene Modes (Portrait, Landscape, Sports, Close-up, Night Portrait), programmed auto with flexible program (P), shutter-priority auto (S), aperture-priority auto (A), manual (M), quiet (Q) Rechargeable Li-ion Battery EN-EL15: intelligent power management to give maximum performance with minimized power usage Durable shutter unit with shutter speed up to 1/8,000: proved by 150,000 cycles of shutter-release testing

Is this Nikon D90 replacement camera worthy of the crown?

A review of the Nikon’s headline specification finds most of the bells and whistles we’d expect at this price point present and correct, along with some we wouldn’t. We’ve already spotlighted the 16.2 million pixel effective resolution, derived from a Nikon DX format (as opposed to full frame FX format) CMOS sensor.
