About this deal

As LG makes panels for the rest of them, this panel will be offered by another manufacturer but + iPlayer and that will scoop LG's UK customers.

Switching to standard HDR10 with The Hunt from the Apple TV app, and while there’s the inevitable slight drop in crispness when compared to watching a disc, the picture is still undeniably lovely. The HDMIs are better specified here than on rival TVs. For starters, they’re officially HDMI 2.1 certified, and while that isn’t the guarantee of support for all next-gen HDMI features you might expect, the CX does support those likely to be of concern for the next few years, including eARC (Enhanced Audio Return Channel), HFR (High Frame Rate), ALLM (Auto Low Latency Mode) and VRR (Variable Refresh Rate). Addendum. In fact, Sony offers essentially the same TV at the same price but with catch-ups included. Why would you buy the LG? Because you like playing with your dongle? The big problem with the Sony is no HDMI 2.1 features except eARC. Bit of an own goal when you consider the amount of PS5s I am sure they are planning to sell. No HFR, no ALLM, no VRR 🤦‍♂️ ReplyWhile the LG G1, Sony A90J and Panasonic JZ1500 can go that little bit brighter [...], in isolation the C1 gets very close to that level at a lower entry point.. Percentage Luminance drop at 35 degree horizontal angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output Life's about more than having the latest technology. It’s about the experiences technology creates. From TVs and refrigerators to laptops and computer monitors, LG UK delivers home electronics that let you embrace life and prepare you for its greatest moments. The set’s latency performance is very good for gaming. We measured input lag at 12.6ms (1080/60) with Game mode on. LG C1 review: Sound quality Max light output HDR (high dynamic range) while displaying small white square taking up 60% of the screen (measured in Nits)

LG gets around this to a certain extent by using virtualisation. AI Sound Pro enlarges the soundstage and sharpens dialogue for standard content. Dolby Atmos decoding is switched in when it's detected, a virtual height channel offering faux immersion. Addendum. In fact, Sony offers essentially the same TV at the same price but with catch-ups included. Why would you buy the LG? Because you like playing with your dongle?😂😂😂 Reply Percentage luminance drop at 20 degree vertical angle from the centre of the screen with 50% white output

WebOS: User-friendly platform makes finding your favourite content super-easy – with colour coded cards at the foot of the screen. As is the norm for LG, HDR10+ isn’t supported by the CX, but standard HDR10, HLG and Dolby Vision all are. The company’s 2020 OLEDs also all support the new Dolby Vision IQ format, which tailors the Dolby Vision performance to the ambient light in the room. It’s not as transformative a feature as Dolby would have you believe but, while we were initially underwhelmed when testing the LG GX, we can now see the benefits of Dolby Vision IQ in terms of some extra detail being revealed in dark scenes when there’s a fair bit of light in the room. This is why when you read online people refer to the TVs as only C1, because the other differences are not important. The only important bit is the model range and model year. It's not possible to buy a TV with a different region from the UK, for instance...unless you're importing it from abroad.

There are seemingly small, but significant improvements to picture handling too. The set runs the brand’s 4th-gen Alpha 9 image engine, with AI enhanced image processing. It’s astonishingly powerful. The C1 delivers lots of ‘wow, that’s better than last year’ moments. Motion handling is particularly noteworthy, courtesy of some clever new image interpolation techniques. I am also very surprised that Whathifi did criticise LG more for their product’s serious deficiency. Should you want a bigger CX model, it’s also available at 65in and 75in sizes. There’s also now a smaller model, the OLED48CX, which is in fact the world’s first 48in OLED TV. The 55in CX’s sound system is the same 2.2-channel, 40W affair as seen in the 48in model we’ve already tested. Predictably, then, it sounds similar, albeit with a slightly fuller balance that’s typical of a bigger TV. There isn’t a Dolby Vision IQ setting in the TV’s menus, but if you’re watching Dolby Vision content and the AI Brightness Control feature is enabled, you’re watching IQ.
