About this deal

Lastly, there's aplug-in hybrid ( PHEV). It's called the P400e and uses a 2.0-litre petrol coupled with an electric motor. Together they produce 398bhp, which is good enough for 0-60mph in 5.4sec and an official electric-only range of 27 miles. It's pretty expensive and is only available with the 110 body. Even if you go for a version with the relatively chunky 20in alloys (they're standard onDynamic HSE trim), ride comfort is far from a deal-breaker, but there is more fidget. The PHEV P300e is the least forgiving because of the added weight of its batteries, but is still not overly firm. The Defender itself wasn’t included in the survey, but fingers crossed it’s breaking the mould and proving considerably more dependable than its stablemates. Realistically, though, be prepared for some form of reliability issue and the need to call on its three-year, unlimited-mileage warranty. The Land Rover Discovery Sport is priced competitively against five-seat premium family SUV rivals such as the Audi Q5 andthe BMW X3, which are both less versatile in terms of passenger accommodation. The Discovery Sport, with its updated safety systems, received a five star rating from Euro NCAP in 2022.

Although the Range Rover Sport is positioned as the more agile, dynamic model compared to its Range Rover sibling, it’s still a giant of an SUV. The Sport measures 4,946mm long which is 106mm shy of the Range Rover, but overall width (with mirrors out) is the same at 2,209mm, with just a 50mm difference in height – 1,820mm for the Sport vs 1,870mm for the Range Rover. It’s easy to set everything up so it's comfy, with even entry-level models getting 12-way electrically adjustable seats with memory settings, heating and cooling. All other versions except XS Edition get 14-way adjustment. Despite the rising rear window line and shallow rear screen, you can see quite a lot of what's behind you compared with some other family SUVs. Every Evoque comes with front and rear parking sensors and a reversing camera as standard. You get plenty of gadgets as standard, including DAB radio, Bluetooth, and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay smartphone mirroring that uses the entire screen to show a trimmed-down version of your phone's display. Models above the entry-level Evoque or R-Dynamic trims have built-in sat-nav as standard. The 110 has a more impressive boot, although we still managed to fit only seven carry-on suitcases below its load cover. Many rivals, including the Audi Q7 and the Volvo XC90, can swallow quite a few more. Mind you, the Defender does show up the Jeep Wrangler for luggage capacity. Higher up the range, the Defender's price overlaps with the larger Audi Q7, the BMW X5 and theLand Rover Discovery. If you go for the V8 model or the PHEVin a top trim, you're potentially looking at a lot more than BMW X7 money. If you've ever sat in the front of the cramped old Defender, let's just say thecurrent one will be a refreshing change.Whether you’re escaping the city or exploring it, the Range Rover collection is at home in every terrain. Distinctive and well crafted, The Range Rover Sport is only available as a five-seater, so you’ll have to look towards the seven-seat Range Rover or Discovery models if you need your Land Rover to carry extra passengers, while the Defender 110 and 130 versions offer six and eight-seat capacity respectively.

Jaguar Land Rover Limited: Registered office: Abbey Road, Whitley, Coventry CV3 4LF. Registered in England No: 1672070 The cushioned lid of the raised centre cubby doubles as a well-placed armrest and the dashboard is easy to figure out. The Discovery Sport uses the Pivi Pro infotainment system that also features in the Land Rover Defenderand the Range Rover Evoque. Its 11.4in touchscreen is sharp and you get plenty of connectivity features on all trims, including Android Autoand Apple CarPlaysmartphone mirroring. That means you can use smartphone apps such as Google Maps and Waze through the car’s touchscreen. With that in mind, the price tags attached to X-Dynamic HSE trim and above make them hard to recommend. If you want luxury, we'd argue that similar-priced, road-biased premium SUV such as the Audi Q7 or the BMW X5make more sense. The Discovery Sport was recently updated with visual tweaks to the exterior, a much plusher interior and a more sophisticated infotainment system. The refresh also introduced mild-hybrid technology to the non-PHEV engines, which should reduce fuel consumption and emissions. In the overall brand league table, Lexus ranked first, while Honda was sixth and Land Rover was down in 28th place out of 32 car companies. Two sets of Isofix child seat mounts, one on each outer rear seat, are included as standard on all versions, but there's no option to add a third set on the front passenger seat.

If you need to carry more than six people, you can either specify the ‘five plus two’ seven-seater variant of the 110 (with two extra seats that can be pulled up from the boot floor) or opt for the long-wheelbase 130. The Defender features the latest Land Roverinfotainment system. The 11.4in touchscreen responds swiftly most of the time, the screen is crystal clear and the graphics look quite impressive, too. There’s also lots of functionality, including standard Android Autoand Apple CarPlaysmartphone integration. There’s plenty of safety technologyto prevent a collision in the first place, including automatic emergency braking ( AEB), lane-keeping assistance and a system that alerts the driver if they show signs of tiredness.Blind-spot monitoring is optional on most trims and standard onR-Dynamic SE trim, as is a clear exit monitor and a rear traffic monitor (to stop you reversinginto the path of another car). The Discovery Sport is plusher inside than many of the mainstream family SUV competition, including the Honda CR-V and the Seat Tarraco. In short, it lives up to its premium billing. Interior overview Upgrade to either the Autobiography or First Edition trim levels and you’ll benefit from 22-way heated and ventilated front seats with memory and massage functions. Rear passengers aren’t forgotten either, with heated and ventilated power recline seats with winged headrests. SizeStep inside the Sport though and you won’t be left wanting for luxury – the cabin is trimmed in suitably high-quality materials, including Windsor leather upholstery as standard, while 20-way electrically-adjustable front seats ensure the driver should easily be able to find a comfortable position. Indeed, it’s better than the Range Rover EvoqueP300e in that regard. The switch between power sources is smooth, if sometimes a little slow. It’s certainly much better than the clunky plug-in hybrid Volvo XC40but the Honda CR-V PHEV is better still. You also get a full roster of off-road systems, including Terrain Response to maximise traction, hill descent control to get you down slopes safely and low traction launch. That's on top of the infotainment, visibility and safety aids. All versions come with front and rear parking sensors plus a surround-view camera, although it should be said that the specific towing view isn’t that helpful because it doesn't cover the tow hitch.
