About this deal

Both our gins are distilled in London, which a lot of London dry gins aren’t, and that was very important. Our distiller is Charles Maxwell, 11th generation master distiller, and his family started distilling gin at around the same time as the word ‘Soho’ was coined by the first Duke of Monmouth as a name for that district of London. So there’s a bit of serendipity there which I quite liked at the beginning – slightly fated, perhaps? Regardless, not being distillers ourselves, we went to the best. We created a flavour profile, took it to Charles, we asked him to make our gin, and he nailed it. So it’s very much something that we love and we drink ourselves, which I think is important. Three gin drinks are included in the price, so you can expect to step out of the Mini feeling quite merry. Borough Market & Beefeater Gin Tour We’re pretty sure that London is at least 50% fuelled by gin. Our obsession with all things gin has been going for centuries and, with a slew of cool distillery openings in the past few years, shows no sign of abating. Alex prefers to keep her focus on producing a fabulous quality drink for people to enjoy. The bespoke recipe of King Of Soho is very smooth and its unique flavour profile is built on a combination of classic gin and citrus botanicals, setting it apart from the traditional London dry gin while still staying true to its heritage. Alex explains that the greatest reward for her is when people really enjoy the product.

King of Soho Variorum Gin Details

But where can you find the really good stuff? You know, the kind of gin that makes you stop after your first sip to bow down and recognise the fact that what you are drinking is pure fabulousness – almost, but not quite too good for the likes of you.

It is vital that you learn your industry. Alex believes that good investments can be made by networking with associations and groups linked to your industry, where you can gain advice from experts. You’re not going to be able to do everything and if you can’t do something, find somebody who can,” Alex continues. With 12 botanicals and made according to 11th century methods, the King of Soho doesn’t disappoint. Made by the son of late Soho personality Paul Raymond, this tipple is a love letter to the borough. King of Soho is made in the heart of London by Howard Raymond, son of Paul Raymond, the property tycoon who helped revolutionise Soho and make it the wonderful centre for culture it is today. The gin is made with 12 botanicals that give it a full-bodied and fresh flavour profile. This bottle is all about the past and present of Soho,’ Robson explains. The icon’s velvet tailoring reflects the bold and colourful fashion of the area; the fox’s tail signifies Soho’s status as a former royal hunting ground and the fox’s reputation as a mischievous character of the night; the trumpet echoes Soho’s rich jazz history; and the holding of the book, along with the character tipping his hat, points to Soho’s long association with the creative industries. It’s fair to say a lot of thought went into it.When all’s said and done you’ll have hit all the top spots in under four hours and learnt a whole lot about England’s gin culture in the process. Map of London’s Gin Experiences and Distilleries We know there’s some steep competition, but this might just be the best gin distillery tour in London. Of course, we’re all about the gin – and it’s excellent. Inspired by the botanicals of English gardens, the ‘Kew’ series really is a masterclass in British gin (and one of our favourite tipples in the summer months). Soho is proudly unique and non-conforming, so you’d expect any gin distilled there to offer something that bit different.

Alex explains that her mother had a printing and publishing business in Durham at a time when women didn’t go into business, and that in itself was a huge inspiration to her. Coming from a business-savvy family, Alex always knew that she wanted to go into business, explaining that from a young age she has always been fueled by a burning entrepreneurial spirit. Perhaps you want to learn more about gin. Perhaps you want to drink a lot of the stuff while you do – it’d only be right, in the name of education that is. Then, perhaps you’d not want to restrict yourself to just one distillery. Alex, originally from the North-East, feels a great affinity with London’s Soho, as she finds the warm and outspoken nature of northerners is found similarly in the essence of Soho. The rest, as they say, is history. Each batch is made using a 30l copper still and fresh botanicals – making it one of the most unique tipples in the city. Portobello Road Gin

I mostly take inspiration from the outside, from who I am – and this moves as we develop as human beings. Even if the essence of who you are stays the same, you grow as a person and that helps whatever you’re doing in business at that time. They say if you’re onto a good thing then why change it – and that’s certainly the ethos of Christopher Hayman, chief gin maker at Hayman’s Distillery. Distiller and long-time gin fanatic Victoria Christie (who was drinking G&Ts well before it became cool again) first started producing this organic gin in South London after a masterclass at The Ginstitute. Fast forward a couple of years and she’d released her first batch of the stellar Graveney Gin.
