The garments have instructions for larger sizes besides just the standard S, M, L, and XL. While this might seem obvious, you’d be surprised at how many patterns I’ve come across that were written as if plus size people don’t crochet or don’t want crocheted garments. Featuring over 20 official patterns for toys, keepsakes, and costume replicas inspired by the Harry Potter films, with projects ranging from beginner to more experienced. A true fan must-have, this book also includes fun facts, original costume sketches, film stills and other behind-the-scenes treasures. Keep in mind that I’m writing this review based on my first impressions as an experienced crocheter upon receiving and looking through the book before actually trying out any of the patterns (although I did read through some of them).

Similar to the above, a couple of the patterns have better options available elsewhere online in which the final products look (in my opinion, as a longtime crocheter) better than the final products of the patterns shown in the book - namely Hedwig and the mandrake. When this came we sat down with the yarn and tried our hands at making Harry. Well that didn't work out so well. Harry ended up with a very large head and it didn't look like anything from the book. I then gave up that maybe patterns weren't my thing. So I gave it to another reviewer and they will be trying it themselves as they have much better skill than I. Crocheting is a great way to show your love for Harry Potter and make some unique, handmade gifts for yourself and your fellow Potterheads. All you need is some yarn and a pattern, and you can easily create something special and magical. So grab your hook and yarn and start crocheting your very own Harry Potter-themed gifts today! Not all of the garments accommodate the same range of sizes. While they all have at least one option for larger sizes, they’re not all equally plus friendly. A couple of them go up to a 5XL, one goes up to a 6XL, 2 only go up to a 3XL, and one stops at a 2XL as its largest size. While I myself can get by with a L or an XL depending on how oversized it’s meant to be, I know plenty of people who can’t, and thus it would have been nice if they had chosen patterns that would have allowed ALL of the garment instructions to be offered in the same range of plus sizes. Trust me, nothing is more disappointing as a crocheter than to flip through a pattern book, find a pattern you love and get excited to make, assume it’s going to be available in your size because all the others have been so far, only to discover it’s NOT actually written for your size and doesn’t include instructions for how to customize beyond the pattern.

Perhaps a separate book of Harry Potter magical creature inspired amigurumi would be an ideal solution. Amigurumi is incredibly popular with the generation that grew up with Harry Potter. An amigurumi Fantastic Beasts! I'd buy it & if the sales of existing amigurumi books are anything to go by, lots of other people would too. It’s hard to believe that the Harry Potter movies have been around for over 20 years now. The beloved series has captured the hearts of millions of fans around the world and continues to be a cultural phenomenon. Whether you are a die-hard fan or just appreciate the magic of the wizarding world, these crochet patterns are sure to bring a smile to your face. Perhaps amigurumi annoys some crocheters as some people seem to erroneously think that there is little more to crocheting, but, Harry Potter is a series known for its magical beings animals, monsters, spirits and plants.
