That is bs. No device can stop another device from emitting RF energy. The only thing that is conceivable would be an active jammer that steps on the meter’s zigbee signalling in the hope that the smartmeter will stop attempting to send data after a number of unsuccessful attempts, but I doubt that’s what those “smart”meters do. More likely it’ll ramp up transmission power and keep on trying. The thing to do is to shield it completely in an enclosure. The meter will still ramp up transmission power inside the shielded enclosure but that’s a good thing as that can cause the rf components to burn out. Phone Fabric – Make phone case for cell phone.
