About this deal

I quite agree, Hazel,’ said Aunt Lucy. ‘You may not think yourself an actress, but I know better. You’ve been around Daisy for too long not to be able to pretend.’ That’s a lovely sentiment, but I’m afraid I won’t be able to oblige, Felix dear,’ she said. ‘Something urgent’s come up at work.’ I’m not a nursemaid, Mr M.,’ said Bridget from the doorway. ‘And you know you asked me to watch those suspicious—’

None of your business, niece,’ said Uncle Felix. ‘Lucy, what on earth shall we do? Could Bridget look after them?’ After going to your recent events you said that hazel is a suspect so i would like daisy to take a bit more control while hazel is being questioned. i would also like a murky in the dark murder so that the decetive society suddenly bump into the body !!! i would also like daisy and hazel to get another friend to help them in the mystery. i always love love love new characters. Good grief, girl, SPEAK!’ Inigo shouted at me again and again. ‘It’s a few simple lines! You know how to speak, don’t you?’ My theatre, Inigo darling,’ said Miss Crompton, patting his shoulder. ‘Mine and Theresa’s. Your play.’

i’m really hoping to see more friendships changing / improving ! it would be lovely if hazel and alex have some more chemistry and he pays less attention to daisy who isn’t interested at all !! i would love daisy and george to also have a friendship but nothing flirtatious because it’s not exactly their thing haha. if alex and george aren’t in it, then perhaps a stronger bond between daisy and hazel…! See here!’ cried Inigo, and he came up onto the stage, his cloak billowing, and spoke the lines for me, leaving me feeling even worse, and more confused, than I had before. These are maps of Elysium Hall, the scene of our first deadly mission! A complete history of cases solved by the Detective Society As opening night looms closer, Hazel and Daisy must take centre stage and solve the crime - before the killer strikes again... Hazel, Daisy,’ said Inigo, ‘this tardy female is our Juliet, Miss Rose Tree. She comes to us fresh from her triumph in Happy Families last month at the Lyric, and this will be her first Shakespeare.’

Then, of course, I realized why I had chosen it: I have often felt like Ruth in that poem, and I did at that very moment. I staggered on to the end, melting under the lights and frying with dreadful shame, for I had let out more of myself than I had meant. Then I stopped and there was only a ringing silence. I felt as though every empty chair was staring at me. Hello Detectives! There’s just ONE MONTH TO GO until the second book in my new series, The Body in the Blitz, is published! London ought not to feel so different from Hong Kong, but it does. Although it is spring here, just as it was in Hong Kong, in London that means sun mixed up with chilly, windswept days, rushing grey skies and pattering rain, with only a few small, sad flowers drooping in pots on windowsills.Aunt Lucy held up her hand. ‘Wait,’ she said. ‘I’ve had a thought. Let me make a few telephone calls.’ During a short period of recuperation from Deepdean School after their Hong Kong adventures, the girls are reluctantly taken on as bit-part actors by the Rue’s intimidating Miss Crompton at the request of Daisy’s Aunt Lucy, with whom they are staying. But as rehearsals get underway, the girls soon discover that the large cast has a history of jealousies, prejudices, power struggles and nasty pranks, and when the unpopular leading lady is found murdered the entire company falls under suspicion.

I wasn't a fan of Lysander. Especially not as the story progressed. He was just a creepy, creepy man with a too big ego and a tendency to go violent. I hope that performing on stage will help Hazel find her confidence and make Daisy realize that she is not the only person good at everything! I also hope that their will be an appearance of the Junior Pinkertons, perhaps also participating in the play, and Hazel will finally tell Alexander about her feelings for him. I want there to be a huge twist in this story, and lots of tension eg. the murderer finds out they are investigating and holds them captive/targets them. Maybe one of the culprits from a previous book could return, seeking revenge! Whatever happens in the book, I’m sure that it will be just as amazing, if not more, than all the others!! :):)It really is doable, my dear child,’ said Miss Crompton after I had staggered offstage, face blazing. ‘Imagine you’re speaking to a friend. Do you have any boy friends?’ You certainly do,’ said Miss Crompton. ‘And I agree with you on it.’ She frowned. ‘Actors have got in the habit of declaiming Shakespeare as though they’re speaking nonsense poetry and not simply talking to one another. We won’t have any of that in this production.’ Uncle Felix is just the same as he ever was. He is a fascinating and quite unnerving person, tall and golden like Daisy, and extremely clever too. He has a monocle that he has a habit of screwing into place over his eye and peering at me through, and he has an immensely important and secret job that we are not supposed to know anything about. I don't want to spoil anything for people who haven't read it yet, but ahhhhhhhhhhhh Stevens did the thing I've been wanting her to do for more than half the series now ahhhhhhhhhhhhh Miss Wong, are you sure you would like a part?’ asked Miss Crompton. Without stopping her scribbling, Bridget turned to stare at me, lips pursed. I wanted to sink down into my seat, but then I saw Daisy up on the stage. Her arms were folded and she was trying to look commanding, but she only succeeded in looking at me rather pleadingly.

The seventh thrilling (and rather theatrical) murder mystery from bestselling author Robin Stevens. Heavens, you do need coaching. Martita, help her,’ said Miss Crompton, giving me a firm but not unkind pat on the shoulder. She would not stay quiet when she disagreed with Inigo’s direction, though, and their discussions usually ended with Rose speaking to Miss Crompton and setting off an argument between her and Inigo. Miss Crompton bristled and glared, Inigo became more and more Old Testament, and Rose pouted and took refuge in Wardrobe with Annie, the dresser, who had become her fast friend. Yay for Inspector Priestley popping up again, I still love how he treats the girls, how he (mostly) lets them do their detecting and figuring out clues. She’s all right,’ said Daisy, wrinkling her nose, her cheeks a little red. ‘I suppose. She’s not bad.’

She spent her teenage years at Cheltenham Ladies’ College, reading a lot of murder mysteries and hoping that she’d get the chance to do some detecting herself (she didn’t). She then went to university, where she studied crime fiction, and then worked at a children's publisher. Fresh from their adventure in Hong Kong, Hazel Wong and Daisy Wells are off to the Rue Theatre in London to face an entirely new challenge: acting. O happy dagger!’ screamed Daisy, leaping upright and waving her fist in the air. ‘This is thy sheath; there rust, and let me die!’ Hazel and Daisy are spending some time at Uncle Felix (and Aunt Lucy) after a very exciting few weeks (Hong Kong), and that is how they eventually stumble in the Rue Theatre, in the production of Romeo and Juliet, and from there of course murder just seems to follow them. These girls just can't escape mystery and murder, even if Hazel can do without the dead bodies. :P Our girls are also learning that growing up isn't always the most fun thing. For instance while in previous books they could still get away with things, they are now growing up. Which means a whole slew of things. For instance they can't act like children, they are now often seen as young ladies. Hiding? Isn't getting easier, especially not for Hazel. I am glad that both are learning other skills. Hazel is learning codes and Daisy is trying out disguises (Hazel's reactions to them had me laughing).
