About this deal

Much more elaborate and colorful version than the first book, I never expected that it would turn out this good. (*I was expecting a movie script – Thankfully it is not but it could be turned into a movie.) Alosa knows her father will be furious and is worried what her punishment will be. She has now searched the entire ship. Then it it hits her…She hasn’t searched the outside of the ship. She realizes the siren statue at the stern would be an excellent hiding place. She sneaks there and lowers herself down with a rope. She finds the map hidden in a glass eye of the woman. Riden doesn’t return to the room until late, thinking she’s already asleep. He can tell she wants him to go to sleep, which makes him suspicious. She finally has to sing her siren song to make him obey. She learns what he wants in life is love and acceptance. Then she makes him forget it all happened. Alosa feels a burn in her chest and needs to be replenished. Only the ocean can do it. And then it always tries to get her to give in to it, which she can’t risk right now. She’s mostly human, but her mother was a siren. In Daughter of the Siren Queen, she finds out her mother had always been imprisoned by her father, the Pirate King. When she gets over her initial surprise, she steals her mother her freedom sacrificing her relationship with her father and flees.

Riden continues to bring Alosa’s meals and question her each day. They actually question each other, neither accomplishing much. The rest of the time, two guards are assigned to her cell. At night, she sneaks out to search the ship for the map. One night, her favorite guards are on duty. While Kearan sleeps, she asks Enwen about Kearan. He has learned through sleep talking that his friend has been all over land and sea as an adventurer and has lost much.

Every time men said something sexist she silenced them in a few seconds with an awesome response or act. I’m still pretty much in love with Alosa! She is such a good character even though she appears to be this tough, heartless person to other people. The way she cares for her crew is so beautiful! She literally does not think twice about putting herself in danger, but touch her crew and she will come for your head. Riden - Irritating Alosa, even more, being so handsomely loitering around with girls to make her jealous as hell. If I had to use a book to describe what loyalty and friendship are...this book would definitely be one of my first choices. Just like the first book, I was completely bewitched by this one and I rate it 5 stars with any hesitation whatsoever.

Riden is the first mate of the ship and is in charge of Alosa's interrogation. There is obviously a relationship developing between them, but it was well done. It is more complex than insta-lust and or simple manipulation techniques. Alosa and Riden's relationship is full of tension, and it's more of a love/hate relationship, with some sexual tension. Honestly, I was not sure if I could trust Riden until the end of the book, even though he seemed really nice and I wanted to like him. His snarky and sarcastic conversations with Alosa were also really funny to read. The second ability is being able to "read a person’s emotions, but this ability does not require nourishment from the sea. It is something [she] innately possess.” She is unable to read minds but she sees colors that represent their emotions. As a child, she would practice using this skill on her father's men. (Red is the hardest color to interpret). This ability does not require any sea water to use, but using this power too much will cause her to lose herself to her Siren side.

When we start the book we know little apart from the fact that she is the daughter of the pirate king and getting to know more about her past, however little, was very interesting. Daughter of the Siren Queen is the sequel to Daughter of the Pirate King. We continue to follow Alosa and Riden as Alosa explores her powers and discovers dark secrets about her family as she struggles with her growing feelings for Riden.... Sent on a mission to retrieve part of a map leading to the mysterious Isla de Canta, home to a secret treasure, 17-year old Pirate Captain, Alosa, gets kidnapped by her enemies. On purpose. Would definitely recommend this! Alosa is a fantastic character—along with everyone else—but I love how she acts. I love that she doesn’t let anyone tell her what to do. She’s bad-ass and the way she talks is just great. I still can’t get over that I finished the book. So heart breaking! Anyway, read the book—now. It’s awesome! The two girls left, hand by hand and they were excited to watch a movie together and about the book? well, Reynita couldn't care less about what would happen to the book and she would never miss the book.Did you know you can flag iffy content? Adjust limits for Violence & Scariness in your kid's entertainment guide. Get started Close But Alessandra’s not the only one trying to kill the king. As attempts on his life are made, she finds herself trying to keep him alive long enough for him to make her his queen—all while struggling not to lose her heart. After all, who better for a Shadow King than a cunning, villainous queen? I was hooked from start to finish, and even though I would have loved to read more about Alosa, Riden and their crew, I feel like this is a worthy ending to an epic adventure. The plot and action throughout this one was fine—though this is where most of the negatives come from—it felt as though there was not down time after each strand of action. There was always something going on. And while I normally don’t mind that, for some reason in this one it felt forced at certain points. Maybe that’s just me. To be the siren is to never be afraid. To never hunger or thirst. Never doubt or worry. Never fear."

The romance was so forced, I hated it even more that I hated the characters. Alosa somehow barely knows Riden, but from the moment she met him, she was already in love *done with everything* There are different kinds of fathers. Those who love unconditionally, those who love on condition, and those who never love at all.” Because we are not our fathers. We saw what evil looked like, and we knew we wanted to be different.” Sent on a mission to retrieve an ancient hidden map—the key to a legendary treasure trove—seventeen-year-old pirate captain Alosa deliberately allows herself to be captured by her enemies, giving her the perfect opportunity to search their ship.

From little Roslyn to Princess Alosa’s first mate - Niridia - the 90% crew is women with their strongest wills to fight any damn situations with any weapons handy! I would recommend this book if you are looking for a fast-paced, entertaining and easy to read pirate story with a strong main character and a touch of banter and romance. Daughter of the Siren Queen takes place a few months after the end of Daughter of the Pirate King, as Alosa and her crew, set sails towards Isla de Canta, the island of the mermaids. After betraying her father, Alose sees no other solution than to acquire a fortune big enough to defeat the Pirate King, and buy the loyalty of his men as a pirate is usually loyal to the richest. Alosa as a pirate is something that you wouldn't want to cross on a bad day. She is not only loved, but respected beyond measure for her tenacity and will to win no matter what circumstances in which she might find herself. She also seems to grow quite a bit over the course of this book when she finds out more about her family and upbringing and a few things she didn't know as well. Her father might not be everything she thought he was, but cutting ties with him might be just what she needed to become everything she was meant to be. But freeing herself from the Pirate King is no easy task and it will take the whole crew to pull off this insane feat. If there is one crew who could manage it though, it would be that of the Ava Lee .
