My gaming skills are decidedly average, but I felt like a king when mowing through monsters and zombies. Every mouse movement is met with instant response. And I noted that stopping my turn to shoot was super precise. I almost never overshot the mark. Circle strafe movements are much easier when the panning image stays in focus. You can control your position much more finely than even a 240 Hz monitor allows.
I have the in-game fps counter and I can see that the game floats between 160-240hz. I have it capped at 237 so that makes sense. Question #1, is there a tool I can use to measure my average throughout a match? It's well known that at the start of the game and/or the "drop-in" that FPS is the lowest. Once you drop down and are on land I think I'm getting above 200FPS on average. But that's a subjective view. I'd like to get objective there. The common compromise with fast monitors used to be the panel, but that’s not the case. ASUS has opted for an IPS panel, which gets you truly great colors and viewing angles. If you’re the kind of person that enjoys good visuals and not just the highest refresh rate possible, this will make a massive difference.
This sounds like my reason for still using a CRT to play old games on my i7 PC at 800x600 or 640x480, except those are running only at 60Hz or 85Hz at most. Can somebody please compare this monitor to CRTs for blurring / ghosting in full-screen scrolling? It can only be activated at a fixed 144Hz or 240Hz refresh rate, and not at the same time as NVIDIA G-SYNC. When all is said and done, 360Hz monitors do have a lot to offer, especially to competitive gamers that know how to take advantage of them. And the models we chose above are all the best of the best, with great viewing angles, excellent performance, and plenty of adjustments. Since most games only support 8-bit color (especially when it comes to eSports titles), it’s not really an issue. Price & Similar Monitors The G-Sync Processor menu accesses the Nvidia Reflex Latency Analyzer, which shows control lag in real time in an on-screen window. It requires a USB connection and that you plug your mouse into the special USB port on the panel’s bottom edge.
The AW2523HF needs very little in the way of adjustment. In fact, you can enjoy it just fine in either Standard mode (the default) or Custom Color. Both options offer a visually neutral grayscale, error-free sRGB color and near-perfect gamma. MSI has included Nvidia’s G-Sync module, which eliminates screen tearing or any artifacts, and makes the entire experience even better. Since not a lot of builds can actually get to 360 frames per second, this is crucial. Nvidia’s Reflex Latency Analyzer also makes an appearance, which measures system latency and helps you set things up for optimal gaming performance. Alienware claims 1ms grey-to-grey response time, but there are numerous ways to fudge this spec, so it's mostly meaningless – real-world testing is far more revealing of a monitor's capabilities in this realm. Nvidia also offers its Reflex Analyzer built in to the monitor – we've dug deep into this feature before, so I won't rehash that here, but suffice to say it's a cool feature that helps you cut down on input lag, however marginal the improvements may be. Alienware AW2521H – Testing There are 12 color modes in total, some game-type specific and some suited for reading or other work tasks. Three Game modes let you customize color and video processing options separately. A Custom mode has a two-point white balance plus hue and saturation sliders. I discovered that there is a gamma control in the Console Mode sub-menu, which is not usually found on Dell gaming monitors. It can be turned on and adjusted without affecting other image parameters. The reduction in motion blur is visible, and the response is addictive. You won’t care that the resolution is FHD This is also in conflict with Tom's recommending the world sweet spot res which is QHD. Move on already people. Further, the Dell AW2521H has a strong 400-nit peak brightness, meaning that it can get more than bright enough, even in well-lit rooms. Motion processing is simply the best there around. However, we saw no advantage to the AW2521H over the Asus ROG Swift PG259QN 360Hz monitor. Overall, response is on another level, and motion clarity is superior to any 240 Hz screen we’ve encountered. G-Sync worked perfectly as we often hit the 360 Hz maximum, thanks to the GeForce RTX 3090 graphics card in our Alienware gaming PC.
