About this deal

Using a higher amount of overdrive gain (e.g. "super fast" preset on these alienware monitors) does reduce pixel transition times, (at the cost of more overshoot/coronas/reverse ghosting/whatever we'd like to call it) but I wouldn't really call that an input lag reduction... Playing on the preset, which was named "super fast" by the monitor manufacturer won't suddenly make your monitor super fast...

Do you already have a graphics card that is compatible with Free-Sync? Then it’s easy to synchronize the refresh rate of AW2518HF to the GPU. It will allow you to experience a dynamic refresh rate. It will also cut any stuttering and screen tearing without increasing your input lag. Additionally, this OSD menu is easy to navigate and intuitive. The six OSD buttons are right at the base of the screen’s bezel. This Alienware AW2518HF gaming monitor review talks about all the technical specifications of this product. It also gives you the pros and cons of this fantastic gaming monitor. If you have a FreeSync-compatiblegraphics card, you can synchronize the refresh rate of the Alienware AW2518HF to your GPU. This allows for a dynamic refresh rate, which will eliminate screen tearing and stuttering without significantly increasing the input lag. Use a 5 or 15 vertical line sync width instead of 8 (has to do with the way everything maths together)

The Alienware 25 AW2518HF has combined gamer-centric features and impressive build quality. It has produced an eye-catching design that is going to keep the gaming enthusiast excited for a long time. The design of the Alienware gaming monitor is futuristic and alien-like. That is why this monitor will stand out on your desk. Are you are a gamer who loves casual or competitive gaming? You’re bound to notice a significant difference. It will strike you if you are switching from a 60Hz gaming monitor to an elusive 240 fps. The ergonomic design of this Alienware monitor includes a 130mm adjustable height. There’s also a 90-degree pivot feature with a 20-degree swivel feature, and you can tilt it from 5 to 25 degrees. The monitor also offers a 100 x 100 VESA mount compatibility. The monitor’s screen has a special anti-glare coating, which gives it a matte finish. – Performance There are other changes and tweaks I found through the service menu (voids warranty), I will post more about it when I have time. The modest size and weight of the Alienware AW2518H also mean this is a viable monitor for e-sports players who want to take their trusted gaming display on the road with them. The TN panels sport one of the fastest response times for the minimum motion blur. The 1080p resolutions make it easier to let the PC system reach a higher frame. The Twisted Nematic or TN technology is not known for its representation of colors. It offers a 95% AdobeRGB and 96% of the sRGB Gamut range. These are standard numbers for the TN technology but not impressive. I had the same monitor and same gpu, super fast would make most sense to use since it's highest OD and it doesn't introduce any overshoot/corona artifacts, maybe just a little bit @60Hz. You can further improve slight ghosting trail this monitor has with contrast and reducing the G gain out of RGB in osd custom colors (there's more in this thread discussion: viewtopic.php?f=23&t=6601&p=48725#p48725). Are you a competitive gaming enthusiast? Then you’re most likely to observe the 144Hz and the 240Hz dilemma. In short, this difference is clear but not like between 144Hz and 60Hz. Thanks for the reply. What about gpu scaling or display scaling, I read on another post that gpu scaling is more consistent nowadays that it is mostly flawless? Does the rx580 fall into this category or since the aw2518hf is a pretty good monitor, the display scaling would have less input lag? From my own in game feeling, the display scaling feels faster/smoother?

Follow the UFOs with your eye and observe the amount of ghosting/overshoot you see with your gsync+super fast "fix" in place. Alienware is one of the most popular brands. They promise to set the trend with their extra edges, curves in their design, and solid build. They also offer above-par performance like no one else can do. The same thing applies to this monitor. It sits on a sturdy tripod stand, which provides stable support.

A slick and speedy gaming monitor

Dynamic Contrast (I found that having this on actually helped with the ghosting and motion blur issue a little bit in some cases)
