About this deal

Using their Byker Grove character names, Ant and Dec became PJ and Duncan — the popstars. They were approached to ask to sing and become popstars by Telstar. This book was great, and gave us a detailed insight in to some of the main points of their career, from the Byker Grove days, to their pop career and then to the presenting days. It was written very well, from both of their perspectives and was like having a conversation with them. I love the relationship these two have with each other, their friendship is like no other and it’s clear to see how they have always been there for each other and supported each other.

Ant and Dec came together again with Simon Cowell, who wanted them to present another TV talent show for ITV. This time the talent would be of various acts — from magicians, to singers, to choirs to comedians, and other types of variety acts — that Britain, and the world, had to offer. ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ was created in 2007 and has been on TV in the UK every year since. Some acts come from other parts of the world just to go onto the UK version, rather than their own country’s version! It didn't disappoint. It was so fun I stayed on my bed the whole day to focus on listening/reading. I could've finished it earlier but I have to stop a lot of times and watch the clips they're talking about, and sometimes, I have to watch it like 2-3 times because it's that good.

It wasn't just acting for the boys: PJ & Duncan were pop stars for a while, and became best known for their 1994 UK top 10 'Let's Get Ready to Rhumble'. After the pair performed it on Saturday Night Takeaway, the song went to Number 1 in March 2013. We had a heart-to-heart. I said, ‘Look, forget everything – TV, the partnership – you’ve just got to go and get well.’ I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here!’ Has been on ITV in Britain every year since it started in 2002, and a couple of years had two series per year, namely two series in 2004. But no less true. And after three decades together, we're writing that book. Covering everything from a pirate radio storyline in Byker Grove through to the biggest shows on telly, this is our story.

Check out Ant and Dec's complete career timeline:

I only buy biographies and I can honestly say this is the best one I’ve listened to so far and I’ve bought over 30. I read their first book when I was at a point in my life when I could actually focus and read a physical book, What A Lovely Pair, for all I read it I could hear the boys speaking, it was my favourite book for many years. Listening to Once Upon A Tyne makes you feel the lads are really just chatting to you and you only, telling you about their life and times of grown up together in the entertainment industry, I think mainly because they are not just read their book they actually speak off the cuff, elaborating on the story they are telling at the time, with Ant’s comedy timing and Dec’s hearty laugh, this audiobook brought me laugh out loud moments and tears to my eyes with heart felt emotional words between them both.

I wouldn't mind so much it there weren't chapters devoted to vague themes such as awards ceremonies and the royals so it's not like they didn't have the space. Meet Ant & Dec. being around the same age as this duo all of their history in their teens and 20’s, I get it!In 2012 Ant and Dec performed with Sir Bruce Forsyth at the NTAs (the National Television Awards in the UK). Both Ant and Dec were in awe of Sir Bruce Forsyth and dancing on stage with Sir Bruce Forsyth was one today the many highlights of Ant and Dec’s career in the last 30 years. ANT and Dec have announced they are releasing a new book to celebrate 30 years of working in TV together. Anthony David "Ant" McPartlin OBE (born 18 November 1975) is a British television presenter, TV producer, singer, comedian and actor. He is best known for working alongside Declan Donnelly as part of the presenting duo Ant & Dec. McPartlin came to prominence, alongside Donnelly, in the children's drama series Byker Grove, with both of the boys establishing successful careers as television presenters, in which they are most known for presenting SMTV Live (between 1998 and 2001), I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! and Ant & Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway (since 2002), and Britain's Got Talent (since 2007). In 2015, Ant was prescribed painkillers for botched surgery on his knee. Over the next two years, he became dependent on the drugs and on alcohol. In 2017, he entered rehab to deal with his addictions, and returned to work in the November. Dec: but no less true. And after three decades together, we've written that book. Covering everything from a pirate radio storyline in Byker Grove through to the biggest shows on telly, this is our story.

Ant and Dec are two lads from Newcastle, UK. They became friends while starring on a children’s TV evening programme called ‘Byker Grove’, and came to hold many ‘hats’, including as popstars and TV presenters of some of the most popular UK programmes. In the first Pop Idol series, Will Young won and Gareth Gates was second. In the second, and final, series Michelle McManus won. Please know, this rating gives me no pleasure. I'm an Ant and Dec fan through and through, and I believe that they are peerless in their field. That field is not writing an enlightening book regarding their 30 Years in TV. Don't get me wrong, it's mildly entertaining but you won't learn much - it's like an evening with Ant and Dec, where they wheel out plenty of tried and true anecdotes you probably have heard before if you're a longtime fan - especially if you read their 2009 autobiography.Dropped a point as it was fairly short, and I'm sure in 30 years they could have delved further into several stories. The plus side of that is that it remained throughout fast paced and unrelenting. Byker Grove was based in a youth club in Newcastle and teenagers and young adults went there to hang out with each other. Watching” them grow up through this memoir as well as listen to their lives ups and downs anyone can relate to. It didn't shy away from the difficulties and the hardships because at the end of the day, they're just two boys from Newcastle who made it big.
