About this deal

I have to agree with other people here... this book is really for the adults who want to feel good about themselves.

"Children's Primers Court the Littlest Radicals". The New York Times . Retrieved 2017-07-05. These poor abused children are regularly subjected to board books like A is for Activist, in which, after a series of atrocious rhymes, they are bombarded with asinine slogans they can barely understand, like "Environmental justice is the way!" and "Creative Counter to Corporate Vultures."They are asked "Are you an Activist?"By the age of seven, the answer to the question is probably yes. The alliteration and rhymes have the rhythm and fun of standard ABC books, burrowing into little ears and prompting memorization and spontaneous recitation.” — YES! Magazine All of a sudden Hoopla (one of several providers of econtent for my local library) has visible representation. It's horrific that they couldn't lead as a provider, that it took international protests for them to embrace non-white creators and content, but that's systematic racism for you.

There are the subtle ones ( I Walk with Vanessa), and the frank ones ( A Child’s First Book of Trump). There are those that are domestically focused ( We Rise, We Resist, We Raise Our Voices), and those published internationally ( Dear Donald Trump). Just to name a few.

As the National Coalition Against Censorship's statement (see below)concludes: Freedom of expression ensures that we can meet the challenges of a changing world. That freedom is critical for the students who will lead the world in the years ahead. We must fight to defend it. #BooksNotBansTrained to follow a leftist curricular agenda, a majority of K-12 teachers are set on molding the social justice warriors, anti-free market revolutionaries, radical environmentalists, global warmists, and feminist Furies of the future. The exclusion of the traditional focus on writing skills, effective reading, civics, maths and sciences, and the counter-emphasis on "social justice" themes in the public schools constitutes the first stage of the systematic dumbing down – what historian Niall Ferguson calls The Great Degeneration– that afflicts our society. Like Darraj and others, Nagara, was inspired to write his first children’s book upon realizing the book he wanted for his kid didn’t exist. In his case it was an introduction to the activist community and what it means to be an activist, in words a child can understand. The only solution that has a chance of success is the empowerment of the parent and the home and the elimination of a top-heavy, inefficient, and wasteful educational bureaucracy.Such will be a slow and intermittent process, failing which ongoing academic – and cultural – decline is inevitable. Second of all, what do you mean “donkeys don’t get it”? Are you inviting the reader to a discussion about how left wing groups tear themselves apart in never ending tests of idealogical purity while right wingers have no problem voting along party lines, whatever their personal squabbles? Or are Democrats just “bad at winning elections”? The problem is a lot more complicated than that—how about “G is for Gerrymandering, V is for Voter Purges”? This is an amazing book: the safe course would be a simple message of civic engagement, maybe a little dicey flirting with citizenly disobedience. Instead, this rattles through environmental justice, civil rights, LGBT equality, pretty much everything anyone has ever considered worth fighting for. Beautiful illustrations, rogue cats, a message of fire and light.”

The questions of representation that have upended Hollywood, television and politics in recent years are now hitting the world of children’s literature hard. Already this year, several young adult (YA) books have been pulled over representation concerns, following high-profile dustups.Hill, Corey (2012-11-14). "A is for Activist by Innosanto Nagara". Yes!
