About this deal

The 8x60mm S is very popular in European countries like France where the possession of rifles in their original military caliber is tightly regulated: It allows French licensed gun owners to possess rifles based on the Mauser Gewehr 98 system under the less constraining "hunting rifle" category. I am told by an expert on the Mausers and German snipers that there were a significant number of 8x60 sporting rifles with telescopic sights around. They could shoot the 8x57mm ammunition. Binoculars that have been serviced recently will be worth significantly more. Buy Dienstglas binoculars

Fontana Blanco Matt are marble-effect, matt porcelain floor tiles. They are light grey in colour with darker grey veins running throughout. Being high quality porcelain these tiles are hard wearing, so will be suitable for use anywhere within your home and can withstand heavy foot traffic areas. According to the official C.I.P. rulings, the 8×60mm S can handle up to 405.00MPa (58,740psi) P max piezo pressure. In C.I.P. regulated countries every rifle has to be proofed at 125% of this maximum pressure to certify for sale to consumers. Can you also give the 8x60R Kropatschek? I know some sources say it is the same, and Datig apparently says it's different. I know there also was an 8x56R Kropatschek, in addition to the 8x60R, to further muddy the waters... I did find the dimensions of 8x56R on the net already, though In WWII, the infantry went to a shorter K98 rifle, which launched the 154-gr flat based bullet at 2,805 fps, and the 197.5 grain boattail at 2,494 fps.I've just applied Steve's measurement technique to my (ex-Lidl, 2005 vintage) Meade-branded 10x50 and to my (astro-Dealer supplied, 1989 vintage) Hunter Astronomical 11x80.

Since this chamber reaming operation is also possible for earlier I-bore rifles, 8×60mm chambered rifles (without the S or any other further additions) also exist. 8×60mm rifles sport the earlier tighter 8.07mm (.318 in) I-bore as found in the 8×57mm I.

There were three common types of binocular issued to the German military before and during the Second World War: 6x30, 7x50, 10x50. 6x30 What are peoples thoughts on this set? I don't know enough to comment on the tech detail beyond what I read here on the forum, so I know that BK-7 is referring to the internal prisms at least. Thought it would be good to here from experts here so anyone who might like a punt on a set of these would have more information to go on, beyond the usual sensible advice of testing a set in store before you buy. I just now freeze framed the two binoculars, and they are Zeiss 7x50 Marine without a central hinge bar.

After 1940 the German military wanted to keep the manufacturers' names secret. I am not sure if the motivation was fear of allied bombing or to disguise manufacturers in However, measuring the exit pupil you might find that it is less than 7.5 mm even if the clear aperture is actually 60 mm. This would be because of internal restrictions such as the prism being too small. It might even have the old-fashioned squared off exit-pupils.A 90 deg. Amici will handle an f/3.5 cone, as long as the eyepiece has its field stop reasonably close to the bottom end of the barrel. If the field stop is just a bit too deeply positioned up the eyepiece barrel for use with a minimum-aperture prism, a larger diameter prism will likely work. I have been making these Cases now for over 10 years, without any chambering problems at all. My commercial outlet has also distributed over 1,000 Krop/Guedes cases over a similar period without any complaints. Apparently, they only made this for a film where they needed lots of blanks and some loaded ammo - and I already asked, the empties are not available Another advantage of the Porro II is the fact that the two interfaces where the three prisms are cemented transmit light at least as well as the best multi-coatings. Furthermore, where elements are cemented, the surfaces need not be of very high quality because the interface is of a density much closer to that of the glass than is air. Carl Zeiss, Ernst Leitz, Swarovski and Voightlander. Up to 1940 they carried the maker's name and as well as the word 'Dienstglas'which means

COTW mentions it, but doesn't have a drawing. I need complete case specs, and bullet/rifling preferably too. Anyone have a reference work listing this catridge (Howell, Donnelly maybe?)

Where can I get my vintage German binoculars serviced?

Also, the bodies look like cast iron! and what is the mount thingy that is on the axle? Looks very heavy duty. But getting a good bargain seems to be inherent in most of us even though it is not the bargain we thought it was. I found these for sale marked 7X50 and called U_boat used. What model of type would they be officially called?
