About this deal

The Fast IPS panel, which is generally used in high-end displays, allows for a fast refresh rate while maintaining all of the color accuracy that IPS can give.

The ASUS XG27UQ changes that entirely, bringing almost the best possible specs on a 4K screen down to a reachable tier for general PC gamers. ASUS Fast IPS Display allows the display’s liquid crystal elements to switch up to 8X faster than conventional IPS panels for improved response. With a 0.5ms* gray-to-gray response time, smearing and motion blur are virtually eliminated. This display also delivers superior images with outstanding colors thanks to DCI-P3 97% color gamut and an astounding 1,000:1 contrast ratio. Wide 178-degree viewing angles ensure minimal distortion and color shift even when you're viewing from extreme positions. The XG27AQ ships with a calibration report, but we found a better image with a few adjustments. The native color gamut is DCI-P3 which is covered over 91% and hits its targets closely. Grayscale is a bit warm by default but easily aligned with the RGB sliders. Gamma is slightly light in tone but rides close to 2.2. An sRGB mode is included which delivers similar accuracy but is not adjustable. It does successfully reduce the color gamut though. Below are our recommended SDR settings.

There are various variations, such as the games you wish to play, but it can all be boiled down to the above-mentioned issue. The ASUS XG27AQM is a 27-inch display with a 2K resolution (2560 x 1440), indicating that this is a hybrid option while also significantly increasing the monitor’s PPI, resulting in sharp and clear pictures. High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology with professional color gamut delivers contrast and colour performance that meets the DisplayHDR™ 400 certification While standard IPS panels are recognized for their excellent picture quality but slow response times, the Fast IPS will combine both advantages in one: fast response times and great image quality. Further, the 2560×1440 WQHD resolution hits the pixel density sweet spot on 27″ sized monitors. With 108 PPI (pixels per inch), you get plenty of screen real estate as well as crisp details and text, without any scaling necessary.

Aside from that, the G-Sync technology together with the ELMB Sync helps to remove screen tearing during your gameplay sections, resulting in butter-smooth images. While the ultrawide version has a sturdy design, this one focuses on the gaming vibes, with a large ROG STRIX logo on the top right corner of the display and some features going through on the right half. The screen has a light matte anti-glare coating that eliminates reflections without making the image grainy. Certified as G-SYNC Compatible, delivering a seamless, tear-free gaming experience by enabling VRR (variable refresh rate) by default.

However, if you’re using a variable refresh rate (AMD FreeSync Premium or NVIDIA G-SYNC Compatible), you’ll have to change to overdrive level according to your frame rate: As a result of all of this, we can see that this display has a better color vibrancy than others in this price range, which is a big benefit for some. The first is that this will be a gaming-focused display, with maybe a low resolution and higher refresh rate, or that it will be a hybrid monitor with excellent image quality, high resolution, and gaming features. With exclusive ASUS Aura Sync lighting technology, ROG Strix XG27AQM provides ambient lighting that can be synchronized with other Aura-enabled components and peripherals.

Styling is distinctly Asus ROG with nothing to distract in the front. A small ROG logo adorns the 21mm wide trim strip across the bottom while the remaining bezel is flush, just 7mm wide when the image is present. The Asus ROG Strix XG27AQ makes a good candidate for multi-screen setups where a thin dividing line is desired. Alignment marks in the GamePlus menu aid in marrying the images together.High Dynamic Range (HDR) technology with professional color gamut delivers contrast and color performance that meets the DisplayHDR™ 400 certification Variable refresh rate is supported with both AMD’s FreeSync Premium and NVIDIA’s G-SYNC Compatible certifications within the 48-270Hz range for tear-free gameplay. ELMB-Sync can be used at the same time as variable refresh rate or at a fixed refresh rate (120Hz, 144Hz, 165Hz, 240Hz or 270Hz).

Asus Rog Strix XG27AQM Evangelion Edition: "Project" evolved the virtual world experience for gamers Although this figure is a consequence of the HDR support, we can’t dispute that it is a high-end feature. Another strength of the ASUS XG27AQM IPS monitor is the 178° wide viewing angles, which ensure that the image is flawless regardless of the angle you’re looking at the screen; the colors remain consistent across the entire screen at all times, which in addition to the precise Delta ≤ 2 factory-calibration makes the monitor fit for professional color-critical work.

The ASUS ROG STRI STR G27AQ is a high-performance monitor with lightning-fast response times and very low input lag. These eye-catching design features, in my opinion, are quite important in judging the display as a gaming monitor just by looking at it. We can see where this display really excels once we get into the gaming capabilities. Because of the fast IPS technology, this display has a fantastic response time ratio of 0.5ms(GTG) and little to no motion blur. In general, we preferred this model’s design to that of its ultrawide counterpart; whereas this one exudes a gaming vibe, the ultrawide model can be classified as a casual-looking display owing to its overall aesthetics. If you need a hybrid display with great image visuals and features such as HDR 400 and Fast IPS, the ASUS XG27AQM is currently one of your cheapest choices.
