The Virgin Media Connect app is the control unit for your WiFi that helps keep you connected, and it’s available to anyone with a Hub 3, 4, 5 or Hub 5X. The white cable (as far as I can tell) goes out my first floor flat into this by the main door on ground floor:

I always assumed Virgin Media cables were fairly specific and were crimped with a tool as they feel robust. The current hole is to small to pull the cable out with the end on, so I’ll need to cut the cable, drill another hole, insert through and crimp a new end on.

It’ll be an FTTP (Fibre to the premises) connection. So you can expect to have our superfast, reliable fibre-optic cables fitted from start to finish. VM use RG-11 Snap 'n Seal connectors (SNS11QS to be precise), you need tooling to fit these so go for a decent quality F connector and you should be fine. You may be able to set the wireless adapter in the laptop to 'prefer' connection to 5GHz when it can. For Windows 10 iv cut the virgin F-connector off the end of a cable i was rerunning to make it easier... but i cant detach their connector from the piece of snipped cable. It keeps spinning on itself and wont unscrew.

Cabling coming into your home to the SuperHub is coax (RG6, CT100 or WT100). Cables going from your SuperHub to computers and other such devices would be Cat5 or Cat6 ethernet. I'm currently having the same issue, my Coaxial cable was damaged and has left me with no internet at all. I called the support team and was advised that Virgin does not replace these cables and I would need to do it myself. On another matter, and I don't know if you can help. One of my laptop is only connecting to the 2.4ghz band, whereas on my previous hub (2ac) I connected to the 5ghz band. Is there any way of forcing it to connect to the 5ghz band. Just to say, that I wasn't aware that VM use their own standard cable. I've been using a cable I made myself from part from Screwfix & B&Q. I'm in I.T. and the cable I made has been great. No connection issues or loss in signal. Been using it for years and speed tests also proven this.
