About this deal

The thing I look be the most of manga, more so than the anime adaptions for the most part, is they have so much more context and world building. Little moments with secondary characters and layout descriptions really give you more of it all, and in turn makes the whole experience that much greater. I hate to be one of those guys, but for me it's definitely manga>anime. Ghouls live among us, the same as normal people in every way-except their craving for human flesh. Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-ghoul hybrid. Trapped between two worlds, he must survive Ghoul turf wars, learn more about Ghoul society and master his new powers. Things heat up in the Ward Eleven as the CCG investigates the high rate of Investigator deaths. Kaneki has an explosive run-in with Aogiri Tree, the Ghoul Gang, run by a Ghoul known only as the Sekigan King. Books Collection

With that, I hereby place Tokyo Ghoul and Kaneki Ken in the annals of Anoushka's loves and to-be-read-again masterpieces. Review for the whole series: Oof, I have some thoughts about this one. I think the best way to sum up this series is that I feel like it is a concept that has a lot of potential, but it ultimately fell short for me in several ways. Instead of a really long review, I think I'll just write up a pros and cons list to help other people decide if it might be something they would like to try.

At Books2Door, we believe that reading is a fundamental skill that every child should have to help improve their vocabulary, grammar, and critical thinking skills. Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-Ghoul hybrid. Trapped between two worlds, he must survive Ghoul turf wars, learn more about Ghoul society and master his new powers. As Kaneki and the fiercest fighter in the CCG, Arima, finally face off, several investigators launch an assault on Yoshimura, unaware of the danger that awaits them. The massive battle takes a turn for the worse when the One-Eyed Owl appears, leaving the fate of Kaneki and the CCG hanging in the balance. Ken Kaneki is an ordinary college student until a violent encounter turns him into the first half-human half-Ghoul hybrid. Trapped between two worlds, he must survive Ghoul turf wars, learn more about Ghoul society and master his new powers.Investigators from the 20th Ward launch an initiative to take out the Ghoul known as the One-Eyed Owl, who has possible ties to both Akira and Yoshimura. An all-out assault on the Anteiku café, where the Owl is supposedly hiding, results in full-fledged battle. Overall I enjoyed this series a lot, with some small-ish gripes. I thought going into the series that it was more aimed to a younger audience, and although it kinda is... It gets pretty effin' dark at points, even for my horror fan sensibilities. Fine by me! Just not eat-over-breakfast material. I took a small break in binging through the box set after the whole "Jason" torture bit... Kaneki is still trying to get used to his new life when Commission of Counter Ghoul agents Mado and Amon start sniffing around for Hinami. Kaneki and Touka are going to have to get them off her tail and fast. No easy task now that Kaneki's got to bring humans and Ghouls to a rapid truce at the same time. For older teen audiences.Books Collection In the world of Tokyo Ghoul, sometimes the only way to fight monsters is to become one…The Commission of Counter Ghoul is the only organization fighting the Ghoul menace, and they will use every tool at their disposal to protect humanity from its ultimate predator. Their newest weapon in this hidden war is an experimental procedure that implants human investigators with a Ghoul’s Kagune, giving them Ghoul powers and abilities. But both the procedure and the newly formed Qs Squad are untested. Will they become heroes…or monsters?! This story is really well-crafted and especially after the sequel or on a second reading of this series, it becomes clear just how much effort was put into it.Ken's descent into Ghoul-hood was both fascinating and horrifying to watch. There's just something about a character fighting against their nature and pursuing the "right" path above all else that fascinates me.
