About this deal

Jaime had worked a white collar job but he had to take the “tunnel” to get to it. One day an awful event left him unable to even consider taking that route any longer. He is riding the Tube and the power went out. He was crushed to the side of the carriage and ended up pulling the emergency handle. “We were in that tunnel for half an hour with no power, no messages from the driver. My skin burned as if I’d been shoveled into a furnace and yet somehow I stopped myself from passing out.” Since one of my own personal fears is being trapped underground, this resonated with me!!!!!!!! Louise Candish is another author I kept meaning to read and somehow haven’t. So, I jumped at the chance to read her latest. The morning after Christmas break Jaime is met by the police as he is getting ready to board the river boat. Kit has been reported as missing since the last time they took the river boat together and Jaime is apparently the last person to see him. What transpires next is something the reader should PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO !!!

The Other (Tryon novel) - Wikipedia

The book slowed down a little as the predicted affair takes place and the plot became a bit “heard this before, seen this before”. Jaime and Clare have been living together for a decade. She inherited a gorgeous, beautifully detailed home in the best part of London. She doesn’t have to pay any rent but she continues to work in real estate and seems to enjoy it. Nora - Nora's moved into the cottage near to Suzi, she has a devastating past she is desperate to keep secret. And a reason for why she is at that cottage. The Making of THE OTHER (1972) - memories relayed by Diana Muldaur, Don Kranze and C. Robert Holloway" They drink coffee together in the morning and more spirited drinks after work. It's not a bad way to start, or end the day. This was a pretty great thriller! While the relationship between the three main characters was fairly obvious to me from pretty early on, I still enjoyed the drama and suspense of it all and all the twists and turns! I was sold a story of haunted houses and teen romance. I was promised something akin to Aiden Thomas' Cemetery Boys. What I got was a family drama that just happened to take place around Autumn, that was more reminiscent of Mason Deaver's The Ghosts We Keep, without any of the originality and heart-wrenching emotional impact. Told from the alternating perspectives of three women, Suzi, Elle, and Nora, it is immediately apparent that all is not as it seems in the lives of these three women. Suzi, the most fully fleshed out character, is pregnant and living in fear in a remote cottage where she is the victim of domestic abuse. Nora, coincidentally or not, takes up residence in a cottage of her own across the street, and might just be the salvation that Suzi is seeking. Or will Nora's secrets, in fact, be the undoing of them all? Dahlin, Robert (1977). Conversations With Writers. Detroit, Michigan: Gale Research Company. ISBN 0-8103-0943-2. Henry suffers an injury to his leg while jousting in 1536, and his time recovering stokes worries that public sentiment is turning. Meanwhile, Anne grows increasingly paranoid, convinced she has lost the support of her family and the country and that Henry is in love with lady-in-waiting Jane Seymour.

There must be a slight difference between acting and lying, otherwise half the population would be auditioning for the RSC.'Mary Boleyn/Carey/Stafford: The main character of the story, told from her point of view. Mary is portrayed as an innocent, sexually naïve, young girl who, forced by her family, engages in an affair with Henry VIII under the influence of her sister Anne and her brother George. The novel begins when Mary is thirteen and ends just days after Anne's execution. Chris and Martin Udvarnoky auditioned for the roles of Niles and Holland after a grade-school teacher informed their parents about the production. After they were cast, the boys met with Robert Mulligan, who asked them which boy wanted to play Niles and which boy wanted to play Holland; he then gave both boys the roles that they each asked for. In an interview for the video essay The Making of The Other, Martin Udvarnoky recalls that Mulligan was mostly a nice director on the set, but that he got a little angry during the filming of a (deleted) swimming scene where the boys were struggling to act due to the cold outdoor weather. I was expecting a really spooky, Halloween read considering all of the orange and pumpkins on the cover. This book doesn’t have a single pumpkin in it, and the spooky vibes are not very spooky at all. We talk about ghosts for like two chapters and then that plotline feels like it just falls off the face of the Earth. I feel like this could have done so much better if it was more focused, and the marketing reflected that. The eventual ‘plot twist’ to this story could have been revealed in a much more powerful way if the aspect of the haunted house had been built on a bit more. It turned out by then that I didn’t really care much about the mystery aspect of the book because it was so weak. Hello and welcome! I am the bestselling author of 16 novels - a fact I can't quite believe myself - and my books are published all over the world. My brand-new thriller THE ONLY SUSPECT is out now and described by the Daily Mail as 'a perfect mix of nostalgia and menace'.

The Other by Thomas Tryon | Goodreads

By the halfway point, it SEEMED like I knew where this was leading and I was reading to see HOW the story would get there, but I was still fully engaged. Ohhhh helloooooo you twisted little thriller you...... I loved it! I loved Our House and when Berkley offered to send me a copy of The Other Couple..well I couldn't say yes fast enough. It literally went to the top of my TBR the second I got it. First off the cover is amazing! This story is told from different timelines and multiple points of view, all expressed by the female characters, Suzi, Elle, Nora, and Eleanor, that this story revolved around. Hearing from all these different characters could get a bit confusing. But maybe that was the intent of the author, to keep us on our proverbial toes. However, there were times I wanted to shake these women and say, “Really, what is wrong with you.”A bit about me: I live in a South London neighbourhood not unlike the one in my books, with my husband, teenage daughter, and a fox-red Labrador called Bertie who is the apple of my eye. Books, TV and long walks are my passions - oh, and drinking wine in the sun with family and friends. My favourite authors include Tom Wolfe, Patricia Highsmith, Barbara Vine and Agatha Christie. As I mentioned before Clare is successful business woman, also coming from privileged, wealthy family but she isn’t financially dominant or pretentious. She never puts pressure on her husband’s shoulders to find better job instead of wasting his time playing barista.

She rejoices in her new pregnancy after hearing news of Queen Catherine's death but soon miscarries. Henry discovers the child was born severely malformed and begins courting Jane Seymour as rumors that Anne is a witch spread. Actually I do have one,' she said. 'I've decided I'm going to embrace the new. I read that's the key to aging successfully.' I am eager to read more from this author. This book was so comforting that I believe it may just be high on my comfort read lists. So named because they have the luxury of making their daily commute via riverboat on the Thames, as opposed to the more traditional, oftentimes more frustrating, modes of transportation. The Other Wife is a bit of a slow burn. Ms. McGowan sets the scene thoroughly for this domestic thriller, and her character development is utterly devious. Overall, I did enjoy reading this book. I feel that I must mention there is an element of spousal abuse in this book, so if this is a problem for you, steer clear of this book.He takes the commuter riverboat at every morning to go his job accompanied by Kit, his new and younger friend ( he’s millennial) but on January 23rd Kit doesn’t show up at 7:30 a.m service! Maybe he was too hangover, he may have had a long night! Who knows? Not us, but Jamie may have some ideas!
