For 2021's new product, Studio Series started to include characters from The Transformers: The Movie, in celebration of the film's 35th anniversary. These toys feature a separate numbering system in Hasbro markets that utilizes "86" before the number of the respective figure. The '86 figures follow the same style, scale and play pattern of those from the concurrent War for Cybertron Trilogy toylines, complete with Fire Blast effect compatibility and 5 mm ports that can support Weaponizers and Fossilizers. This is the closest to a realistically proportioned Hot Rod that is not repainted or retooled from another figure. It does, however, have a very similar transformation to Robots in Disguise Legion Class Sideswipe.

Hot Rod is the simply the best "Deluxe" Hastak has ever released...oh wait, he's listed as Voyager. This Hot Rod is a 1/64 non-transforming robot mode figurine, and like MetaColle figures, he was made partially out of die-cast metal. I mean plastic quality and QC are two different things. A QC reject could have defective molding, lost joints, or paint, but more often than not it’s still the same exact plastic and quality of plastic you’ll get on release. It’s not like the plastic somehow going to be more dense. However, Bumblebee is at the forefront and is far more prominent. Unlike most modern instruction pamphlets, Hot Rod's instructions are printed in full color on the Hasbro version. The instructions on the TakaraTomy version, on the other hand, opt for the usual monochrome. Hot Rod’s bot mode continued to see modifications and improvement all the way up to our tool start. Tomo did an amazing job of fine tuning the panels on this character, to keep the remaining vehicle parts as unobtrusive as possible. all i want to know is, CAN THE DOOR PANELS(basically almost all of the side of the car) hinge in a way so they end up as the sides of the trenchcoat? they are factory test runs for QC testing. normally these figures are thrown out and destroyed but some make it out of the factory by workers ICONIC MODES: Figure features classic conversion between robot and cassette modes in 9 steps. Not wrong but I wouldn't expect an early sample to have the same plastic as the final product as it's still in testing phase. I just think it's still expected for early copies as they more often than not a massive gamble.
