About this deal

I realise that some are "less able" and so have to try anything that may help but gadgets and labour saving devices are not for me just yet. At last you can securely anchor an awning leg vertically when detached from the side of a Caravan/Motorhome, with a Caravan Rollout Awning Anchor Kit. http://www. caravantalk. co. uk/community/topic/119191-pegging-down-the-awning/?hl=%2Bscrew+%2Bpegs&do=findComment&comment=1400706 The Wing Collar is used with a Ground Dog screw in peg, when using the Anchor Plate to secure the awning leg vertically. Anything will work on grass/soft ground, but the screw in type were almost impossible to get in when on hard standing.

Instead of hammering your tent pegs in the old way, just screw these into and out of the ground in seconds with your rechargeable drill. The idea of screw in sounds fine, and on something soft, where the point can continue straight down, they're fine, but so often it just comes up against a stone and there isn't enough grip behind it (even with me leaning on the drill) to go any further, so it just spins. No plastic bit at the top which can break off. Easy to put in any type of ground with cordless drill. The Aldi pegs are very good but you do need to remove the plastic T and open up the holes so the T spins freely. I use 8mm long coach screws and penny washers now. I’ve found the best technique to driving pegs into hard standings if they won’t screw in is to strike them firmly but not too hard and ease them into the substrate rather than trying to get them in with one Thor-like blow. Coach bolts & coach screws are made of steel and offer different finishes or coatings, including stainless steel, Bright Zinc Plated, and Passivated Hot Dipped Galvanised, to name a few

It takes longer to screw in as it must go through more revolutions when screwing in and out (this will be time consuming if doing by hand) I carry a rechargeable SDS drill with an 8mm masonry bit for the really tough hard standings. Useful to wind the pegs out afterwards and spin the steadies up and down.I've got some but as other have said they aren't all that easy to screw in - I usually bash them in halfway with a hammer and see if they'll screw in the rest of the way. If not they get bashed in all the way. They do come out quite seaily with the drill though. or 500 pieces Tiny eye screws for pendants/ Antique bronze/ screw eye bails/ eye hook screw/ Eye screw for beads making supplies The Awning Anchor plates allow the awning legs to be detached from the side of the van or motorhome, to stand vertically, they are then securely anchored by screwing in a Ground Dog screw in peg on either side of the awning leg. (No more awning leg to walk into!) I just use a lump hammer and brute force. I still have a few "screw in" pegs that haven't already bent, and use them as plain pegs. I have seen some that are threaded but you still hammer them in and then give them half a turn to loosen them to remove. Even thought about the rebar type but these look to be over egging it a bit.

I do have an air powered one which needs the compressor, but hat maybe is slightly over the top.
