When I was growing up, there weren't as many restaurants. Now you can have sushi and Mexican food. There's so much to offer. But then at the same time, that sense of tradition and elegance has never changed. There is that sense of family time, and tropical ease. She loved entertaining. She was the one that always taught me the importance of chocolates and sweets on the table, not even just for dessert. The flowers and the table were always perfection—she always was known for doing incredible menu cards and place cards . Thanks to Harper for my advanced review copy. I cannot wait to read everything else Adkins has ever written!

And I just don't UNDERSTAND. What is the point?! This book was thought provoking, maybe, but only if "?????" constitutes a thought. a href="https://venicemagftl.com/the-island-is-calling/"> The Island is Calling; By: Nila Do Simon, Venice Magazine Online (USA), May 2020

There wasn't a character I didn't like, even the devious ones and there were a few. I love characters that are a bit edgy and Mrs. Stone was definitely that. I feel the same way about quirky characters and Mr. Stone delivered, along with being a bit unintentionally comical. I thought the author did a great job in making all characters interesting and memorable, even those who just popped in for dinner!Basically, I listened to this audiobook on 1.25 speed and then bumped it up to 1.5 and then bumped it up to 2 and then bumped it up to 2.25 and then bumped it up to 2.5 and then bumped it up to 2.75 and listened to the vast majority of this book at 2.75 speed. There was nothing wrong with doing this, because nothing happened in this book that meant anything. So I didn't have to worry about missing anything important at least? The characters’ decision-making and the events of the book did not feel realistic at all. Why would a random billionaire offer to double the salary of a man he just met? Why would said billionaire’s wife hire the first random writer that stumbles into her house (Rebecca) to ghost-write her memoir? This remarkable book gives readers the chance to live a fun, adventure-filled year in Palm Beach and to see how one couple came to find out what was most important to them and how they wanted to live the rest of their life. Her husband is recruited by one of Palm Beaches wealthiest men and they are instantly making 6-digits! This book is an adventure, a memoir, a love story, and a coming-of-age book for baby boomers. On a whim, the authors move to Palm Beach for one year. What begins as a playful adventure turns into a life-changing event. This wise book shows it is not the stuff we have but how we live our life that is important.

Palm Beach: A Complete Guide to the Islandcovers all of this and more. Written by a well-known author who is also alocal resident, the book offers everything you need to know to have fun and enjoy this famous and exclusive island. I will echo many other reviewers’ experiences that the book did compel me to keep reading. However, I really did not enjoy this book and found it extremely annoying at times. I did not find the events of the book believable, really disliked the main character (who I believe we are supposed to sympathize with), and am confused as to what we are supposed to take away from this story. But okay, slow plot isn't the worst sin in the world. I love Catcher in the Rye and nothing even happens in that book. But Catcher is engagingly written, whether you love it or hate it. This was like reading . . . nothing. It had almost no voice. It was like a dessert that only tastes like sugar, and you're like-- wait, that's it?a href="https://goop.com/travel/experiences/three-days-in-palm-beach/"> Three Perfect Days in Palm Beach, Goop Online (USA), December 2019

Raptis Rare Books is an Antiquarian Book firm that specializes in Fine First Editions, Signed and Inscribed books, and Her husband calls her out on this, and it doesn't work out for her. The FBI gets involved. But does she grow from this? No, she just kind of. weathers it and life goes on. She's never reflective. She never thinks about anything she does. She doesn't change.Whether you want to walk the island, enjoy a leisurely brunch, paddle board with your dog, shop until you drop, wander through art galleries, relax with a massage, or dine under the stars, this book is for you. Early in the 1900s, one-time oil baron Henry Morrison Flagler took interest in the Southern coast of Florida and began developing an exclusive resort community. Establishing a railroad that would allow easier access to the area, he went on to build two hotels—his hope was that America’s first families would come to populate the area. This modest community would later evolve into an iconic American destination, hosting British royalty, American movie stars, and becoming the home-away-from-home to some of the country’s leading families. As the century continued, Palm Beach established itself as a luxury hideaway synonymous with old-world glamour and new-world sophistication.
