About this deal

Whatever kind of stain you encounter on your upholstery, as long as you test this product in a hidden area first, you should be able to get the stain out by using the spot clean solution and then treating the same surface with some water to remove any excess, blotting it up with a paper towel. I’ve had great success with this. To use OxiClean on hard surfaces, fill the scoop to line 4 and add it to a gallon of warm water. Apply using a cloth or sponge and let stand for 5-30 minutes. Scrub if necessary and rinse well with warm water. To spot remove carpet stains, the OxiClean label recommends dissolving an eighth of a scoop of powder into 16 ounces of warm or hot water. We use it with the Hoover Max Extract 60. I really like the spinning brushes on Hoover steam cleaners. I just received a Bissell Deep Clean Lift-Off Deluxe Pet that I am excited to try out. The Bissell cleans really well. I didn’t have to repeat cleaning as many times as I have to with the Hoover. However, Bissell is much more difficult to maneuver. The shape of the Bissell makes it more difficult to use. It is also heavier than the Hoover, which adds to the maneuverability issues. OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover works in any temperature water, but best in warm to hot water. Do NOT use boiling water.

But what’s the difference? When should you use each? Is one safer or more effective than the other? Step 3: Rinse your carpet with the steam cleaner. I rinse one time with just hot water in the cleaner. Then I go over it a second time with a few shakes of tea tree oil in the water in the steam cleaner. Tea tree oil is a natural anti-bacterial. Just awesome. Ultimately, borax and OxiClean work almost the same way chemically, which is why they are compared so often. Difference 3: Uses I’ve used OxiClean™ Versatile Stain Remover on our upholstered chairs as well as {multiple times!} on our outdoor patio cushions. To clean, first vacuum up any loose particles using the upholstery attachment on your vacuum. Mix up a solution of OxiClean™ and water as stated in the carpet stain instructions. Apply the solution to a clean, white towel – NOT to the stain directly – and blot out the stain. Repeat until the stain is gone. Dampen a clean white towel with water and blot the area to rinse. You especially want to make sure to blot the edges so you don’t leave any watermarks.

Borax and OxiClean do not expire as long as they are kept in a dry environment. If they are exposed to humidity, they will crystalize and harden. Bottom Line: Should You Use Borax or OxiClean? Other Products: You can buy pure borax, but it’s used as an ingredient in various products, including glass cleaners and laundry detergents. OxiClean offers a versatile line of cleaning products, including powders, sprays, and detergents.

When you mix OxiClean and water, you’ll hear and see fizzing. Those oxygen bubbles help loosen and remove stains from fabrics, hence the name OxiClean. Borax is a naturally occurring chemical compound composed of boron, sodium, and oxygen. It’s found all over the world but most commonly in dry lake beds.

OxiClean really nails it in the bathroom. Whip up your concentrate solution and apply liberally to affected areas. I often use it on grout lines and around the area where the toilet meets the floor. I apply liberally with a cleaning toothbrush, let it sit for about 10 or 15 minutes and then wipe up with some clean water and paper towel. If needed, you can re-apply and scrub those extra dirty spots with a cleaning toothbrush. Shower Curtains (Soak)

Not only is OxiClean the safer option, but it comes in several forms, including powder, liquid spray, and laundry detergent; borax is only sold as a powder. Also, when borax mixes with water, it converts some of the water molecules into hydrogen peroxide. This bleaching agent brightens stains, making borax even more effective. Even if you love to cuddle your pet on the couch, the left-behind mystery stains are something you’d likely rather live without. Thankfully, you can also use OxiClean powder to refresh water-safe upholstery.Without any pre-treatment—other than rinsing with cold water by hand—our results weren’t great. While the butter stain completely disappeared, the rest of the stains remained (though they were slightly lighter). It’s tough to enjoy a sun-soaked day by the pool if your eye is constantly drawn to dirty, grimy tiles. Use OxiClean powder to clean off dull pool tiles that have seen better days. How much OxiClean to use depends on how dirty the surface appears to be. OxiClean recommends mixing between ¼ and one scoop of powder per gallon of water used for cleaning, depending on how bad the stains are. Use warm or hot water for best effect and rinse the tiles after scrubbing up stains.

The concentrate also works like a charm on kitchen tile grout which takes a huge beating from spills, thrills and everything in between. Just apply the concentrate to the grout lines and let it sit for 15 minutes. Generally, you don’t even need to scrub it. Finally just wipe away the solution with a damp cloth or paper towel and the watch the grout lines come out like new. Kids Plastic Toys (Soak)

But borax also has many other applications aside from laundry. You can use it as an all-around cleaner for kitchens and bathrooms, an odor reducer, or even a water softener. Borax is also great for eliminating bugs and weeds. Uses: Borax is most commonly used as a laundry aid, although it can be an all-purpose cleaner as well. OxiClean is used as a spot stain remover, as well as a laundry aid and all-purpose cleaner. Make sure that you’re always using hot water to mix up your solutions, this way the product can completely dissolve. If you need to use the solution on something where cold water is necessary, that’s fine, whip up the solution and then let it cool. If a product includes sodium borate, sodium tetraborate, or disodium tetraborate, it contains borax. Turns out that pre-soaking the stains made a huge difference. While you can pre-soak for one to six hours depending on how bad your stains are, we went for the full six to see how Revive performed under optimal conditions. Turns out that worked, as the streaks of grass, mustard, and butter were completely gone and while there was a hint of mud and pasta sauce left behind, you really had to know it was there in the first place and see it in just the right light. Needless to say, we were impressed.
