Fiona Danks is an environmental educator and author who works with her writing partner Jo Schofield to create beautiful books about the natural world. Fiona and Jo believe that reconnecting everyone with nature is vital if we are to understand our reliance on a healthy and biodiverse natural world, and ensure it is protected for the future. They believe that all children and families should regularly spend time outdoors in green spaces where nature can weave its magic upon them. The inspiration and ideas for their books came from sharing combined adventures with their own families and a mutual belief in the importance of giving children and young people the freedom to enjoy outdoor adventures.

Many thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this engaging and beautifully illustrated title. All opinions are my own. Readers will be encouraged to draw on their creativity, to express themselves without fear of being judged, and to make their book really WILD! Jo Schofield gained a degree in psychology from Exeter University and began her career working for an educational psychologist in London. After getting involved in the production of a film, she went on to work in the creative department of a TV advertising agency where she began taking still photographs. This led on to her becoming a commercial photographer in Australia and then London. She worked mainly for national editorial magazines such as Country Living. When her children were small she worked in Watlington Primary School and the Dragon school in Oxford, applying her creative knowledge to the classroom with children aged 6-9 years. More recently she has been focusing on writing and photographing for a series of books with co-author Fiona Danks. They will need scissors, pens, paints, tape, glue and a magnifying glass, plus lots of wild materials and their wildest creativity, as this book becomes filled with keepsakes from their own outdoor adventures.

This is a unique book aimed at children ages 7-9 years old -- the idea is for the child to take it outdoors and color in the book as they follow along with a variety of prompts. Be warned, your children might have to prise this creative book out of your hands. They can collect petals or leaves for collages, rewild a city street with drawings of greenery or decorate a butterfly.’— The Sunday Express I received an advance reader copy of this book to read in exchange for an honest review via netgalley and the publishers. The book opens with an introduction of how to use this one and then goes on to many short sections. Some of these include Searching for Rainbows, Shell collecting, Dragon hunt, Eyes on the trees, Tiny treasures, Leaf printing, Garden goblins, Cloud gazing, and Bee friendly, along with many more. All in all, the perfect companion and encouragement to get out and enjoy the natural world.

It's a beautiful book. I just wonder if a 15 year old might enjoy this kind of doodling, etc. more than a 7 year old. I've always enjoyed activity books, especially if they form very much a journal style where you have the opportunity to express yourself. The publisher describes this as a scrapbook and there are cues that encourage mixed media opportunities through drawing and writing as well as involving natural discovered elements. There's a plethora of different types of activities and prompts to enjoy. I particularly like that it's very much a book that inspires time outdoors and with nature. Yet, there is a fantasy element where there are activities related to dragons too! Loved it. While I understand that the intent of this book is to celebrate nature and invite children to engage with nature in a meaningful and imaginative way, I do wonder if a book like this really is the right means to that end. I genuinely feel that this book will appeal to adults much more than children, and perhaps should even be marketed as an "adult coloring book"!As a parent who tries to achieve as much nature time as possible in hopes of raising a productive and healthy child -- I couldn't have asked for a more FUN and ENCHANTING book.
