About this deal

If this was just about the smaller designs, that would be interesting enough, up to a point, but it's also about compatibility. These devices are buss-powered from computer or iPad, and also compatible with Windows, OS X, and Linux. A suite of controllers that are truly portable between your studio and mobile devices is pretty tantalising. Don't expect to be able to use either of those with Groovebox, I think Launchkey is the only supported controller. Also pretty sure they won't work with Cubasis mixer either, you can use it with synths/FX hosted in Cubasis though .

VIDEO: Getting started with Launch Control XL on PC

PrEditor– Our Isotonik PrEditor Mapping Utility allows you to define what parameters the LaunchControl XL automats to when in focus of the blue hand. Ableton is configured to work sensibly in banks of eight parameters at a time, with the extended control offered with twenty four parameters at a time you’ll want to re-configure the AutoMapping for your Ableton Live Instruments & Effects along with VST’s, AU’s and MaxforLive Devices – MORE DETAILS Due to the Pro Tools HUI implementation, the centre detent of the LaunchControl XL pan pots will not directly correspond to the centre position of Pro Tool’s pan pots. Extended Parameter Device Control – User Six Mode 24 Pots control AutoMaps to the parameters of the currently in focus device, with the configuration of the Device_32 parameter you can extend this to include the 8 fades taking each bank to be 32 parameters. Ok, I tried. There is a MIDI script. It only works with the Factory Preset 1, which gives you 8 knobs in total to control the Device. The pads on Launch Control's sister model, the Launchkey, are velocity sensitive, but the Control's aren't. It's not a huge problem either way, but something to ponder when choosing. Also the Launchkey and the Launchpad Mini use mini-USB to connect, while the Launch Control uses full-size USB. iOS live rig

I have different templates on AUM and whenever I want to start a project i load the template and every control I need is on my hand.

Launch Control XL Components guide – Novation

mercury007 wrote:First of all - 8 macros are not the problem. The problem is integrating a large VST with 128 parameters. I have access to 24 knobs, 8 faders, and 16 buttons x 8 USER and 7 Factory presets...so I could control a ton of parameters with it (which was the point of buying it). Note: The ‘LaunchControl XL HUI’ port may show as ‘MIDIIN2’/’MIDIOUT2’ or something similar on Windows. First Impressions / Setting up We take a look at Novation’s Launch Control XL controller, meant to provide hardware controls for Ableton Live’s mixer section. Everything worked as expected, and I have to say that it’s really nice to have physical controls with certain effects (basically anything that is increased/decreased slowly, like a filter). I do have to say that using this without looking at your laptop screenis a bit of stretch; in the promotional video, producerAvec Sans doesn’t even glance at his screen during his performance, which seems a bit unrealistic in my opinion. or create a new one from scratch - this new template is the default User template that comes on the unit.
