About this deal

There has been a significant change to the format for this edition. It is now split into regions, with an introduction to each section from Laura Hadland, the author of 50 Years of CAMRA, and the brewery information is now split regionally and follows the pub section. It is hoped that this arrangement will make the GBG more user-friendly and accessible. The GBG remains the UK’s definitive guide to pubs that serve top quality real ale, with entries chosen by CAMRA volunteers, with no fees paid (or asked for) for inclusion. Although laid out differently, the unique listing of breweries is still included. We've also defined the different types of beers for you, so while you're sipping on that new IPA you are loving, you can read up about the differences between a New England–style and a West coast–style. Or while you're finding your next go-to brew, you can learn what makes a German-style beer German. Meet the CofE trained minister set to star as The Yorkshire Exorcist in a new documentary on Really TV

An entry in the definitive beer drinkers guide doesn't do any harm at all and helps to pull punters in from other areas, who join the regulars whose ages range from early 20s right up to their 80s. Teresa said: "I love it - it can be hard work at times. Boak, Jessica; Bailey, Ray (19 June 2014). Brew Britannia: The Strange Rebirth of British Beer. Aurum. ISBN 978-1-78131-271-1. The last few years have been an incredibly difficult time for the industry, and we need more support than ever before to keep our nation’s pubs open and thriving. I’d encourage everyone to use this year’s guide to visit the very best pubs across the UK and support them for generations to come.” These pubs only offered mild and bitter in draught form, although the quality in the selected pubs was exceptionally good. Nowadays the pubs listed in the guide, and many others, tend to offer a wide range of quality cask beers in numerous styles and from microbreweries near and far.We put theirs on and sometimes it will go in one night and the same with Oakham, it's a very popular beer for us, but they like Bristol Beer Factory and Twisted Wheel. It's giving people a choice really." The first printed edition was published in 1974. In a list of the country's brewers, the entry for Watney's consisted of the advice to "Avoid like the plague." [6] Concerned that this statement was libellous, the publisher, Waddington's, recalled the first print run and revised the entry to "Avoid at all costs." [7] Editions [ edit ] One of those making the grade is a quirky micro pub in Kimberley, a town once famed for its brewing. Roots Emporium is like a shrine to Kimberley Brewery, which was the oldest independent brewery in the whole of Nottinghamshire.

This guide is a clarion call to get involved, to go local, to preserve humanity and courtesy in our Pubs, not have them turned into mere alcohol cash machines.’ I received a copy recently from @CAMRA_Official ( ) and I have to say, it’s absolutely excellent Hoping it’s going to be a yearly thing… but like getting the Beano annual for Christmas, only for grownups! The Good Beer Guide is the UK’s best-selling beer and pub guide and it continues to represent the best of the best in the brewing and hospitality industry. These adverts enable local businesses to get in front of their target audience – the local community.
