About this deal

However, the manufacturer’s reserve the right for deciding the release of the software for their products by transmitting the latest software versions over the air via satellite.

It's been used this way for dozens of updates on Humax kit (not just the Foxsat-hdr). Never needed to use the full format option. And I don't think most of the "other Satellite" functions are activated until you've done a minimal (Single TP should do it!) Manual Tune on "freesat 28.2E" NOTE: It may take 5~10 minutes to update software. Other functions will not activate while the software update takes place. You cannot schedule programmes during the software update.

Freesat was launched in May 2007, allowing viewers to watch digital satellite TV without a subscription. I think I recall that Twonky and Mediatomb both have a user interface, perhaps accessed via a port, and it will periodically rescan it's folders. I think It was also possible to force a rebuild which I needed to do initially - it was some time ago however. Try the Foxsat doc on these clients. The display means, among other advantages, that the Humax becomes a useful radio tuner (for satellite radio, obviously), because you don't need to have the TV turned on to operate it. The unit’s onscreen operating system is fantastic. Designed with full colour, high-resolution graphics, friendly icons and clear text, even the biggest technophobes can make basic changes with no hassle at all. The digital TV displays are similarly clear, particularly the programme information banner (called the ‘i-plate’), which tells you everything you could possibly need to know about the current programme, including the resolution and the presence of Dolby Digital. With the custom firmware, non-Freesat channels can be added to the Freesat EPG. Unfortunately no EPG programme information is available for non-Freesat channels. Yes it's for the Foxsat-HDR to allow it to play non native video content. It creates the required sidecar files. Bit confused by the filename of "raydon_s_Media_and_File_Server_Bundle_for_the_Foxsat_HDR_release_4.1.3" that the 4.13 link goes to in post #1. Is the CF bundled within that as the filename makes no reference to CF? With recession looming, perhaps you fancy spending your redundancy pay on Freesat, bearing in mind that you’ll have no ongoing costs. In those terms then the FOXSAT-HDR makes perfect sense, giving you access to the current paltry HD offering, but more importantly giving you the promise of more in the future. With this box under your HD TV, you are poised to exploit new channels as they become available. I had Twonky4 and Mediatomb was installed but because of these problems I wanted to upgrade to Twonky5 but system wouldn't allow it due to Twonky4 had already t been installed, so I uninstalled Twonky4 and upgraded to Twonky5
