It could also have been from the amount of dust in the area.

The first step is to gently sketch the shape of the explosion with simple curves and lines. I use the Pencil >Real pencil tool. Ah, nice. Sorry that the node setup I gave you did behave so weird. For me it didn’t light up the whole cube. Please do also read up on films, comics, books, and photographs. Analyze the shapes of the smoke, fire, and objects being affected. I also encourage you to make your own version of my explosions and share them with the rest of us artists in the Clip Studio Paint community. In this step, I will apply Gaussian blur and on the last layer that I created at approximately 50px for strength. This is just one of the many ways to integrate our explosions into an illustration, but there are many more. Let me show you some other examples for inspiration.
