About this deal

Wet your fabric thoroughly and remove any excess water. Add your fabric to the pot until the fabric is completely submerged in water, and stir thoroughly and occasionally for about 20 minutes. You will see that the color starts to become lighter and lighter, but your fabric will still look a bit darker when it is wet. This process usually involves disperse dyes that need to be activated using heat. Manufacturers have special machinery that can dye polyester using a colorant mixture that can be heated up to 280℉. Keep in mind that acrylic paint is not designed to be washed excessively, which is why we only recommend this option if you want to paint a decorative piece on polyester fabric. The high heat of a tumble dryer will set any colour run stains from the laundry cycle. It'll be so much easier to figure out how to get colour run out of clothes if you've managed to spot colour run before popping them in the dryer... but if that warning came all too late, don't despair! Skip to step 3.

A large stainless steel pot to hold your fabric and dye. The pot will need to be big enough to comfortably hold the entire piece of fabric and won’t spill while you stir. Stainless steel won’t be stained by the dye. Wake up your wardrobe with this Dylon Hand Fabric Dye! Perfect for reviving faded clothing or brightening up cushion covers with colour and ease. After 20 minutes, carefully remove your fabric from the pot, and rinse it with warm water until the water runs clear. Beige – almost any “antiqued” version of a color can be created from a beige base. Neons are unlikely, but you can use a dusty pink using a bit of red dye, a mossy green using some spring green dye, etc. Beige is similar to mixing a very light brown, it will tone down any dye color slightly and make it appear slightly muddy and less intense.

Before you try to remove a dye stain, spot-test your stain remover solution on a hidden area of the stained fabric. If using a cotton/polyester blend, please note it will only dye to a lighter shade as only the cotton fibres will absorb the colour. First, you’ll want to pay attention to fiber content. A cotton shirt that is made using a polyester thread will result in dye being absorbed differently. It’s likely that the polyester thread will retain the original color while the fabric itself absorbs the dye. Hoodies and t-shirts often have prints on them (we discussed this in the patterned fabric section above) so it’s best to test in an inconspicuous area to determine how the fabric, print, and dye is likely to interact. If a faint stain still remains, cut a lemon in half, rub the juice into the stain, and let the white fabric sit in direct sunlight. This is another effective way of removing stains from white clothing.

Unlike traditional bleach, which contains chlorine that can damage the fabric, Colour Remover is chlorine-free and thus, safe to use. As an item gets darker or more saturated, it becomes more difficult to augment its color with an overdye. For example, a very dark blue t-shirt overdyed in red is very likely to end up looking like a slightly warmer very dark blue. Some extremely saturated reds are also difficult to “shift” – no matter what dye you use, it will always have that red tint. Conversely, very light or pale colors can sometimes be “overpowered” with a particularly saturated overdye – for example, generally yellow and blue make green, but if you’re starting with a very pale yellow base, you can in some cases achieve a navy blue that doesn’t have much, if any, green undertone. This, again, is extremely dependent on the item you’re dyeing. Overdye color chart: Plus, just like our original formula, Rit DyeMore is non-toxic and safe for sewer and septic systems. Whether you’re covering stains, refreshing a faded garment or transforming an abandoned bridesmaid’s dress, dyeing can give old clothes a new lifeRed + blue creates a purple end result (for example, a red shirt with blue dye, or blue pants with red dye) Batch dyes can process different types of fibres and garments in one go, but Wright cautions, “Each fabric’s dye absorption produces the final colour and it will vary from the chart.” To ensure customers aren’t disappointed they offer reprocessing at no extra charge. Grey – similar to beige, grey will neutrally offset any overdye color. Depending on the shade of grey you start with and the end result you’re after, this can look great with nearly any dye color.

Rit Colour Remover makes it possible to remove the existing colour from yet-to-be dyed fabric, giving you a dye-ready canvas for spectacular results and true colour! Heat up the stove and wait for this solution to start bubbling, then bring down the heat so that the water doesn’t boil, but the bubbles still remain.Disperse dyes are designed to react chemically with polyester, so you need to use a hot dye bath to activate the dye and allow the fabric to soak up the colors. 2.
