About this deal

So I am a massive Cathy Glass fan and have been for around ten years now; she's probably the Author that I own the most books by. Lucy was born to a single parent who had herself been abused and neglected for most of her childhood. Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope with a baby and Lucy was neglected right from the start. Despite concerns being raised by her teachers and other adults Lucy wasn’t taken into permanent foster care until she was eight years old. But even then her problems weren’t over. As she was moved from one foster home to another she became increasingly upset and angry. Glass has worked as a foster career for more than 20 years, during which time she has fostered more than 50 children. Her fostering memoirs tell the stories of some of the children who came in to her care, many of whom had suffered abuse. Excellent as usual from this author. I have great admiration for this author having worked with young people and while I know there are people who believe that they are the stories from the children she cares for, I also believe they are hers too. She has taken a long road from when her own children were small and she and her husband began on the road of fostering. She las learned so much through these years and I believe a lot of parents/ carers could and do learn a lot from reading her books. The names of those involved are changed and the development of the family joins the lessons learned from fostering, by all of the family. Lucy’s story could have a happy ending but it could so easily have been different. Policy and priorities need to change so that every child has a permanent family of their own as soon as possible. I am very proud of all of my children not only for what they have achieved but also for the people they have become.

story of my adopted daughter Lucy Will You Love Me?: The story of my adopted daughter Lucy

Wonderfully written, not only a great author but clearly such a caring person. I think about fostering. Cathy doesn’t sugar-coat it and shows how hard and frustrating it can be…" I read A Terrible Secret in two sittings. Couldn’t put it down. Well done, another very emotional and gripping read…" Access-restricted-item true Addeddate 2021-11-02 15:08:17 Boxid IA40277917 Camera USB PTP Class Camera Collection_set printdisabled External-identifier As well as looking after Tilly and keeping her safe Cathy is worried about her own daughter, Lucy, who has confided she is pregnant. She’s asked that no one else knows until she has decided what to do. Cathy hopes and prays she makes the right decision as it will affect the rest of her life. Publication was in 2020 and the story is set in the very recent past (obvious from the first few sentences).

A well written story, Cathy writes in such a way it draws you in from the start. A moving story of a young girl (Tilly) with a bit of a twist…" By the time Lucy came to me, aged eleven, she was withdrawn, refusing to eat and had bouts of terrifying anger. It was thought that the damage done to her was irreversible and there was little I could do. This eleventh memoir and latest title from the internationally bestselling author and foster carer Cathy Glass can either be read as a full eBook or in 3 serialised eBook-only parts. Will You Love Me tells the true story of Cathy’s adopted daughter Lucy. Amazing book as always from Cathy, can't wait for the next! Have read every single one of her books!" This story is about Tilly (14) and her growing up in a house with domestic abuse. There are things that come up, that in a fictional book, we might call plot twists. Tilly manages to get out of the situation, leaving her mother and stepfather to sort themselves out. Things are rarely straight forward, even when you’re thinking, ‘things couldn’t get any worse.’I have three children, two birth children and one adopted child. When I left school I held a clerical position in the civil service, which I left to start a family. At the same time I became a foster carer, the inspiration for much of my writing. I have been a foster carer for over 25 years. I have a degree in education and psychology which I was awarded as a mature student. My true-life stories show the suffering and courage of some of the most vulnerable children in our society and have world-wide appeal. My books are also used by trainers and practitioners, working in childcare and child protection. In the other books I'd read, Cathy's own children were a lot younger and it was nice to read about them as adults and be updated on their lives. Lucy and I have always believed we were destined to be mother and daughter. It just took us a while to find each other. I hope you enjoy Lucy’s story. I enjoyed writing it.

Anyway, this book tells the story of Tilly who is 14 and has requested to go into care as she can no longer live with her mother and step-father. Her SF is abusive towards her mother, manipulative and cruel. Tilly can't put up with it anymore and goes to social services and demands to live elsewhere. As soon as I get a book by Cathy Glass I have to read it straight away… not only an author but a wonderful and very caring lady…" I struggle reviewing books like this because they are stories about people's lives. They're real, and they're unpleasant, and I feel a little bad about reading about people's unhappiness. However, I do really enjoy these books, and I feel that Cathy Glass does a very good job in making people aware of what awful things go on behind closed doors. I have dabbled in fostering, and it's hard and heartbreaking to witness what people do to children.Lucy was born to a single mother who had been abused and neglected for most of her own childhood. Right from the beginning Lucy's mother couldn't cope, but it wasn't until Lucy reached eight years old that she was finally taken into permanent foster care. By the time Lucy is brought to live with Cathy she is eleven years old and severely distressed after being moved from one foster home to another. Withdrawn, refusing to eat and three years behind in her schooling, it is thought that the damage Lucy has suffered is irreversible. Adrian, Lucy and Paula are all young adults now. Adrian went away to study at university and then returned home. Lucy and Paula went to local colleges and university. Cathy's books always give a great insight into fostering and everything involved that most people aren't aware of. However sometimes she does state things unnecessarily, because everyone already knows, such as the fact that pregnant women urgently need the toilet... There was also a lot of bitter comments about her ex John in this one, but that's not really a bad thing #drama

An easy 5 star for me along with the vast majority of Cathy’s other books. I love her writing style, usually I don’t like descriptive writing but I feel with this being non-fiction it kind of works better? Lucy was born to a single parent who had herself been abused and neglected for most of her childhood. Lucy’s mother couldn’t cope with a baby and Lucy was neglected right from the beginning. Despite concerns being raised by her teachers and other adults Lucy wasn’t taken into permanent foster care until she was eight years old. But even then her problems weren’t over. As she was moved from one foster home to another she became increasingly distressed. Having read all of Cathy Glass' books, I had high expectations of this book, and they were fulfilled! I recommend this book to anybody."Fantastic book. Sad, but a story that must be told. I was gripped right from the beginning. I would definitely recommend this book. Nice keeping up to date with Cathy and her lovely family." I have always enjoyed reading Cathy Glass’s books! This is still a great publication helping to understand children, their issues and how to deal with them. Can’t wait for the next book! I've just had to give up on a book of which I had high expectations so needed a replacement to settle me and Cathy Glass books are consistently good quality.
