Kristopher DeSoto was on a mission to create a more robust and expressive tequila than the kind usually found on U.S. shelves — and he succeeded. Hiatus uses a ground-to-glass method which combines traditional methods and modern technology, produced by master distiller, Luis Trejo Rodríguez at La Cofradía. The distillery actually sits on the edge of an extinct volcano, whose porous foundation acts as a natural filter for the spring water used to make their tequila. Casamigos Tequila Blanco is sweet with complex notes of vanilla, lemon, tomato leaf, and fresh mint. While it may not claim the top spot among Blancos, it is undeniably a fantastic option for those new to Tequila. It seems there are countless different types of martinis you can create, and the tequila based variations are some of my favorite – especially with Casamigos Reposado. Combined with orange juice, olive juice, lime juice, orange liqueur, and salt, it’s a classy yet tasty evening sipper.

If you’re looking for a Tequila for shots, it’s best to choose a more affordable option that is better suited for that purpose. Alternatives I'm a whisky or rum drinker ordinarily.
