About this deal

At the risk of being a total fangirl, I’ve loved everything Fearne Cotton has put out to date, but Bigger Than Us has inspired and motivated me more than anything else. I especially appreciated the section on enneagram types, 'cause boy has that helped me understand what's going on in my head. Bigger Than Us by Fearne Cotton is a self-help book that explores the power of spirituality to find meaning in a messy world. Cotton weaves her own journey of discovery with the insights of renowned spiritualists and thought leaders, offering readers a variety of tools and practices to help them connect with their own inner wisdom. Brian Bilston and Henry Normal appear together for the first time in a show which one critic has described as ‘two people reading some poems’. I borrow these books from the library, always half expecting to find them too cheesy - wondering if this is going to be the one to make me roll my eyes and comment that I should have known - horribly judgemental, but true. But as with other titles by Cotton, this drew me in and really made me think about quite a few different alternative approaches (more natural approach than psych) to living, thinking, loving, reacting and ironically judging. Interesting life lessons to remind us that life is not always straight forward, and that instinct may not always be the best path.

Fearne Cotton is an excellent writer, as an avid listener to her Happy Place Podcast her voice rang through my head through reading this. A book filled with honesty and vulnerability that makes me personally feel seen and understood. My neurodivergent brain loved the small headings between chapters and the mixture of prose to conversations to bullet points. The summarisation of everything we’ve heard a hundred times, but coupled with expert views and a much deeper - relatable and personal- dive, makes for a book I intend to read again and again. And probably again. The book is an easy to read self help book that introduces us to a variety of tools we can incorporate into our lives such as spirituality, faith, reiki, shamanism, mediumship, manifesting, and Enneagram numbers among other. It was a thought provoking and enjoyable read. This book inspires you to live life being more thankful and focusing on the positives.

I enjoyed this book and there were quite a few take homes from it - I think it’s my favourite of all of her books that I’ve read so far.

I haven't listened to Fearne's Happy Place podcast before. I don't follow her on social media either. I only say this so you understand that this review is coming from a place of sincerity and not fandom. In the book Fearne (who has always been massively open to all things mystical) discusses topics like Shamanism, meditation, The Law of Attraction, energy, astrology, prayer (not religious prayer unless you want it to be), ritual, intuition and more. She brakes these topics down inviting readers to understand her history with each of them before inviting a specialist on each subject to have a bit of a free flowing chat with her. Along the way, each section offers the reader entry-level ways on how to make each topic a part of your life and how it could help. All Change at Radio 1". BBC Radio 1. 6 September 2007. In 2005 she joined Radio 1 where she spent 10 incredible years, initially co-hosting morning shows with Reggie Yates and then moving onto the UK Top 40 show before taking over the prestigious weekday morning slot in 2009; here she mixed big celebrity interviews with exclusive acoustic performances in the Live Lounge. The show attracted over 4 million listeners and in 2012 she won a Sony Gold Award for the show.I found myself being much more intrigued about things like Enneagrams (which I hadn’t heard of before and have since explored further) and signs. I haven’t read ‘The Secret’ but the author is interviewed and so fans of Rhonda Byrne will no doubt enjoy their discussion. Fearne Cotton accuses BBC jubilee critics of being 'huge bullies' ".
