The entire plot of ‘Blue Spring Ride’ revolves around the antics of Futaba Yoshioka, a 17-year-old high school student suffering from an inferiority complex. She tries to fit in with the crowd by taking part in activities that other normal girls take part in, but to no avail. In a desperate attempt to fit in, she begins to undermine and demean the guys around her, thinking that it will lead to more attention from her female classmates. There is a history of her peers being jealous of all the attention that she gets from the guys and she feels that such rash behavior will change their mindsets.

I enjoyed this manga maybe a little too much. I enjoyed the beginning of the show. It may have been a generic premise but, it was well executed. I wanted to know more about the characters and, was interested to see how the show would progress. However, the addition of the side characters, love triangle and, after Kou's character reset, Ao Haru Ride just wasn't all that interesting or, something I really cared about anymore. One scene that left a terrible impression with me was when Kou told Futaba that he could sexually assault her if he wanted to after climbing on top of her. I just felt that it was unnecessary and, in bad taste.
