Given the TCL is cheaper and offers more dynamic range, better tone mapping and overall picture quality, plus it has the same gaming features, eARC on an HDMI 2.0 so you keep both HDMI 2.1 ports and Google Smart TV with everything it offers, it is tough love for the Hisense in this comparison. One thing that always impresses with Hisense products at this market level and price point is the materials used and the build quality. It feels like a more premium product thanks to plastics that look and feel good, mixed with some aluminium finishes here and there to add some solidity.

We are testing a 65-inch Hisense U7K which has been provided to us for review by Hisense UK. It was a brand-new unopened example. The picture quality should be similar for the other screen sizes available in the range. Game Mode Pro automatically fires up when a gaming connection is detected through ALLM, providing you with the pinnacle in gaming enjoyment. With 144Hz VRR experience the smoothest possible game play enhanced further with ultra low input lag. Image tearing and stuttering are also a thing of the past thanks to AMD Freesync Premium, specifically created to deliver the most responsive and detailed experience yet. The U7 Series is getting significant upgrades for 2023. The newly added Mini-LED technology increases the dimming zones compared to last year by more than a factor of 10 (55" (65"x7.5).

The U7 includes a built-in Sub-Woofer that delivers strong and robust low-end frequencies to assist highlight the advantages of Dolby Atmos & DTS Virtual X and provide a really engaging audio experience that you can feel. The speakers really give you a cinematic feel without the need of a sound bar. It’s been great for movie night. We offer a full HDR solution (HDR10+ Adaptive, HDR10+, HDR10, 4k HDR immersive & Dolby Vision IQ) to help you get the most out of your TV and TV content, so no matter where you obtain your content, you can count on your Hisense TV to produce stunning visuals. Dolby Vision IQ dynamically adjusts your TV based on the lighting in your space to provide the best possible picture at all times. The most recent in AI processing technology is used by the Hisense quad core Hi-View Engine. Frame by frame, automatically fine-tuning each frame's resolution, brightness, contrast, colour, motion, depth, and detail results in an image that is vivid and lifelike. This is done in real-time. The Hi-View Engine's AI processing capacity also allows it to upsample information to a 4k quality image with clarity, sharpness, and lifelike detail. A visual setting called "Filmmaker mode" is made to lessen the amount of post-processing added to films and TV shows, giving you a much more pristine and cinematic experience and letting you watch content the way the creators intended. As always, we factory reset the Hisense U7K and then measured the picture presets to find which is the most accurate to the industry standards, out of the box, so we can view content as it was mastered and intended to be seen. The best picture preset for this is Filmmaker Mode (FMM), which tries to follow the industry standards to view content as it was mastered and intended to be seen. With Mini-LED HDR 1000, Quantum Dot technology, an upgraded 144Hz panel and a total HDR solution including Dolby Vision, the U7 delivers the most detailed, lifelike, and vivid images. In addition to these break through picture developments, the U7 also doesn't disappoint when it comes to powerful and immersive sound with its 2.1 channel speaker system with a built-in sub woofer. There are plenty of Mini LED solutions that mainly have the same features, but slightly different brightness and HDR tone mapping on offer. The tv was incredibly simple to set up and using it couldn’t be easier. Even my parents found it easier to use especially as they could ask Alexa to open apps/channels if they struggle to find them.

For 2023, the U7 Series will receive considerable enhancements. The dimming zones have increased by more than a factor of 10 (55" (65"x7.5) compared to previous year thanks to the newly incorporated Mini-LED technology. The U7 produces the most accurate, lifelike, and colourful images with to Quantum Dot technology, an improved 144Hz screen, a complete HDR solution, and Dolby Vision. Along with these groundbreaking picture improvements, the U7 also delivers powerful and immersive sound with a 2.1 channel speaker system with a built-in subwoofer. Along with the updated 144Hz VRR panel, the U7 also offers 144Hz Game Mode Pro, which combines connectivity (HDMI2.1 eArc) with industry-leading technology (AMD Freesync Premium) to give you the winning gaming recipe. This mode is now available up to an amazing 85-inch screen size. That’s a lot of screen real estate for affordable pricing, so the performance needs to live up to the promise, a promise last year’s UK units disingenuously squandered by carrying the same SKU numbers as more impressive global models from the company before revealing themselves as under-specced. Hisense has publicly stated that this year’s U7K model is the same TV worldwide with the same features and performance. The 65-inch TV we are reviewing is a set provided by Hisense UK.There are no real shortages of LCD TVs on the market, but Mini LED tech is still fairly new and at the higher end of the market. You also want a set that handles all the available HDR formats, Dolby and dts audio as well as at least two HDMI 2.1 ports, gaming features like VRR, eARC for use with a soundbar and decent Smarts. Mini LED with Quantum Dot Experience colour like never before. Hisense TVs are capable of reproducing over one billion different shades of colour, allowing you to enjoy colour in its most authentic and genuine form. If you want more of the same but with improved local dimming and more dynamic range, then the Hisense U8K is more expensive but does offer a little more performance and we’ll have a review available as soon as we get one in. We really haven’t reviewed many TVs that compete directly with the Hisense U7K but we do have the TCL C845 in for review at the same time and it is perfect for a comparison.
