About this deal

As with the society Roboute Guilliman had built on Macragge, the XIII Legion under his mastery would be as ruthlessly even-handed as it was efficient, with the needs of the individual sublimated to the greater whole, but the life of the individual never spent wantonly or without purpose; for the doctrine stated that each Legionary lost weakened those who remained. The oratory and vision with which their new-found primarch expounded to them his designs for the future and the righteousness of the Great Crusade filled the Legiones Astartes with a renewed vigiour and dispelled any shadows of doubt in their minds, and made Guilliman's takeover, according to official records, all but seamless. As the Great Rift's cataclysmic birth following the fall of Cadia disrupted interstellar travel and communications and the Noctis Aeterna closed like a shroud upon the galaxy, Guilliman moved swiftly to stabilise the faltering Imperium. He turned to Belisarius Cawl once more to complete a plan that had been over 10,000 standard years in the making, since the end of the Horus Heresy and Guilliman's last tenure as the Imperium's lord commander.

We’re sure that more than a few of you have spent the last few hours squinting enthusiastically at grainy pictures on the internet. Well, squint no more; here are some glorious full-sized pictures of the Imperium’s new heroes*: Psychically, the Emperor of Mankind informed Roboute that he was the last hope for mankind. The Primarch declared himself Lord Commander of the Imperium and Imperial Regent, taking direct control of the Imperium of Man.

Anything else you may have heard – or anything you read into the presence of skulls marked ‘II’ and ‘XI’ built into the throne inhabited by Malcador the Sigillite in the image above – is heretical subversion. A being of preternatural intelligence, cold reason and indomitable will, Guilliman forged his XIII th Legion into a vast force of conquest and control, a weapon by which he made himself the master of a stellar domain in the Eastern Fringe of the galaxy, the Realm of Ultramar, which during his lifetime spanned five hundred worlds. More than one of the capsules was breached whilst it drifted through Warpspace -- the forces of the Immaterium leaked in, wreaking havoc on the gestating being inside the capsule. Undoubtedly damage was done and Chaotic corruption affected several of the primarchs, although the nature of that corruption would not become apparent until the Horus Heresy.

We’re going with the Lion as #3. Mostly because he’s not out yet and we don’t have any pictures of just his Resin/Mini base. We DO like the sculpt and the fact that you get two head options and two sword options. He’s got the same kind of action pose as Ferrus Manus, but he wins his duels – just ask Russ. He also has a beard that we think Russ would also be jealous of. We might of ranked him higher if we could have seen just the resin…oh well! #3 is pretty respectable. #2 Leman Russ Fresh conquests were immediate, as the newly named Ultramarines rapidly expanded their range out from Macragge, identifying suitable targets for Compliance and singling out xenos holds for eradication. Interrupted only when called upon to join larger campaigns by the will of the Emperor, for nearly a century the 12th Expeditionary Fleet ranged as far to the galactic north as the dead expanse where the Dominion of Storms ended and as far to the galactic east and south as the point of Ultima Thule, where the stars paled and emptied out into the limitless darkness of the exo-galactic void.

Let them bestride the galaxy like the gods of old, sheltering Mankind from destruction at the hands of an uncaring universe. Look, we’re biased here at BoLS. We like the Blood Angels and we think Sanguinius is the best of them. He looks graceful and heavenly – coming from on high to strike down his enemies below. His wings are EPIC and angelic. And we also love that this sculpt is based somewhat on the Michael vs the Dragon statues of the real world. It’s a great nod to some of the Gothic vibes of the Grimdark. During Roboute's absence, Konor Guilliman's co-consul, a man name Gallan, had unleashed a coup d'etat against Konor -- a development far from unknown historically, if in this instance a surprise. Gallan, it transpired, had long harboured designs on undiluted rulership and had conspired with those amongst the wealthy nobility of Macragge who were jealous of Konor's political power and popularity, and also increasingly afraid of his preternaturally precocious foster child's future.
