The Wraith Max is bigger than the Wraith Spire and it's most likely a tweaked version of the original Wraith cooler. Intel has always bundled their processors with garbage coolers that most people simply throw away because they are extremely loud and do a terrible job of cooling. Onward to testing. Even with that supposed disadvantage, the 65-watt Ryzen 7 5700G never topped out at more than 68 degrees C in our stress testing, which included a lengthy run on 3DMark's Night Raid, pushing both the IGP and CPU cores in tandem for 10 minutes straight. This is an exceptional result for any CPU, made all the more impressive that it was recorded on air cooling. For comparison's sake, the 125-watt Intel Core i5-11600K hit 86 degrees C in the same test, and that was on a Deepcool GamerStorm Captain 240 EX 240mm liquid cooler.

First up I measured peak temperatures after 30 minutes of gameplay during our Overwatch bot match stress test. Then with the cooler that comes with the 2600, the Wraith Stealth we see temps hit 72 degrees and now we're getting up there. Ideally you don't want temps going too far beyond 70 degrees for prolonged use. That said you could increase the fan speed for better results as even the Stealth was spinning at just 2000 RPM. I should note though that the Spire and Stealth do a good job of pushing air over the motherboard's VRM.The Wraith Spire had the highest idle and load temperatures but I was not expecting the Wraith Spire to compete with the CM 212 EVO. Now, to focus on the area where the AMD Ryzen 5 5600G is tuned to perform at its best: PC gaming, especially at popular resolutions like 1080p, where the CPU comes to the fore in some titles. For the Wraith Max, there are two options to get the LED ring. First option is you can connect it to the AMD FAN LED1 header on the motherboard, With just a single exhaust fan to expel air from the case the CPU takes 90 seconds to exceed 90°C and is at 95°C and thermally throttling at the 7 minute mark.
