About this deal

Design - The saw has a slim/compact body and is ultra-lightweight (1.84kg) for extra manoeuvrability. An aluminium guard makes the tool more safe and more durable. The grip has a safety trigger. Although it costs a pretty penny, this Makita DHS680Z is definitely worth the extra money. It is well equipped to handle whatever task you throw its way. One of the most respected big tool brands, DeWalt are known for their quality saws. There was a lot riding on this little beast, and I was blown away by how well it coped with all sorts of jobs. The DCS391 is another excellent bit of kit in DeWalt’s range of cordless tools.

Warranty – Most cordless circular saws will come with a 2-year warranty, however, some offer slightly more or slightly less. The longer the warranty the better you will be protected, but this also suggests the manufacturer has more confidence in the tool that they are selling! LED lights appear on some newer models to help you see exactly where you are going to cut and to provide information about battery life etc.

How to choose the best circular saw to make safe, straight and clean cuts

Makita’s HS7601J/2 Saw is a reliable workhorse favoured by professional tradespeople all over the UK. It doesn’t have tons of fancy features, and it’s not particularly light, but I still think it’s the most capable corded circular saw available right now. Also, at first, I thought this saw was a bit heavy. It is quite weighty, but this does seem to be because all the parts are high quality and made to last. While the Einhell TE-CS Li Solo and WESCO Cordless Circular Saw are substantially cheaper than the Makita DHS680Z, they aren’t as powerful as the latter. This Makita cordless circular saw is powerful enough to cut through 57 mm of wood, something that the other saws in this review aren’t able to do.Generally speaking, when cutting wood, a blade with around 24 teeth will be sufficient for most jobs.
