About this deal

Using Focal's unique Flax cone material, the 926 also sounds smooth and natural. The dedicated mid-range unit lets vocals stand out from the mix and reproduces them exactly as the producer intended. Each speaker has an 18cm mid/bass driver and a 22mm tweeter with a wide surround to disperse the sound even further. Performance is refined yet entertaining, combining stunning precision, clarity and subtlety with hugely enjoyable dynamics and rhythm. They time with pinpoint accuracy and are immensely transparent – without straying into 'clinical-sounding' territory. With their newly developed surrounds, the bass units are even more accurate and faster to respond. The coated paper woofer cone is light, rigid, and helps give the 3010i’s their punchy, agile sound quality. The tweeter units are decoupled from the rest of the cabinet, meaning that the treble isn’t affected by vibration from the bass unit. With clarity and purity of sound at their heart, the 3010i’s are amongst the most natural-sounding speakers in their class. By placing the bass port at the front rather than the rear of the cabinet, the Aria 926s can be placed closer to the rear wall without losing out too much on sound quality. Focal have also provided adjustable plinths with these speakers. By attaching spikes, this lets you get exactly the right degree of 'tilt' for the most precise listening experience. Wharfedale's Diamond range now features a truly outstanding (and affordable) floorstander. Indeed, we're so impressed by the Wharfedale Diamond 12.3's musical performance that it's now a three-time What Hi-Fi? Award winner.

A brilliant little system, now with the bonus of Bluetooth streaming.” ’What Hi-Fi?’ 2019 award-winner. The AE109² is designed to offer effortless, room filling performance from a slimline floor-standing loudspeaker in much the same way the world acclaimed original AE109 did 20 years ago. To do this, two 130mm paper drivers utilising an ultra-high force motor system are used in partnership with a 25mm soft dome tweeter. The 2.5-way crossover features a unique topology allowing integration and power handling previously un-achievable from this type of speaker. Particular attention has been paid to the phase and time alignment for the most cohesive performance possible.

We think these new Mission 770 are right up there with the very best at this price. Mission takes design inspiration from the original 770 speakers launched in the 1970s, but has improved and modernised every other element: from the cabinet design to the drivers and even new dedicated stands. While the retro link will be the main attraction for some, for us that’s put in the shade by the speakers' excellent all-round performance. The 770 have a range of sonic talents that sets them apart from most rivals and earns them a warm recommendation.

The footprint remains the same and they're ideal for smaller spaces. Partner them carefully to balance out a somewhat forward, excitable treble performance, and you'll be rewarded with a terrifically detailed, rhythmically cohesive, agile, and energetic sound. The overall presentation is more open-sounding than before, while the treble performance is so much sweeter and more refined. For their size and price level, each note lands with precision and they even hold dynamic interest at low volume. Basslines are pulled taut and while they don’t go as bone-shatteringly deep as bigger speakers, they do land with real impact. The Epos ES14N are a viable alternative, and if your budget can stretch to them, the KEF Reference 1 Meta also come highly recommended. They may be small, but that doesn't stop the Radius 45s from using top-quality Monitor Audio speaker units. The gold C-CAM tweeter is similar to those used in full-size Monitor Audio speakers and gives a similar ideal balance of smoothness and detail. The main MMP (Metal Matrix Polymer) speaker unit offers a highly realistic mid-range and punchy upper-bass - just add a subwoofer for true bottom end rumble. You also need to make sure your speakers fit your room. Most speakers require a degree of space to sound their best, so be sure not to buy speakers that are too big for your listening area. This is also a good time to consider whether you want bookshelf or floorstanding speakers. Bigger speakers mean higher volumes but, again, you need the space. What can I say!? The system is in my small/medium sized kitchen-diner and it sounds just incredible. The Denon is solid, nothing complicated and exactly what I need, and for a small unit this thing has some power. The speakers are absolutely wonderful, lovely bass response, can handle Jimi and Janis wonderfully and are crystal clear on my lighter acoustic/ classical selections. It’s a great all round combo, couldn’t stop playing my selection of Miles Davis CDs last night once I’d started. Big enough to sound special but small enough to fit in, the Monitor Audio Bronze 200 suits the widest range of spaces.
