Tap would be mounted onto granite and I then two towel rails built into the stainless steel frame - one on each side. A common question asked about undermount sinks is that these types of sinks don’t have a draining board. Well, that is correct but if you are opting for a granite or quartz worktop then you can have some drainer grooves cut into your worktop! See the example below. A common question asked regarding to wooden worktops is “with a wooden worktop and undermount sink, how do I get the drainer grooves into the wooden worktop that I have seen on so many pictures?”
The majority of sinks that you’ve probably seen just fit into the top of a kitchen worktop (inset sinks) and slide into position. Inset sinks are pretty popular with laminate worktops but undermount sinks are installed differently and cannot be used with laminate worktops! How does an undermount sink attach to a worktop? Although a solid wood worktop can be used with an undermount sink, please remember that the wood does need to be oiled and finished correctly, otherwise water will cause the wood to rot and bend. Then a small channel built into the front to house a 30 mm piece of granite across the front to hide the sink that is sitting below the plywood. Chrome piping to cover any ugly waste pipe. The other benefit I see from Cinclips is that I can remove and adjust them without a problem. I'm going to need to do that soon because I ended up not liking the caulk color that I chose, so I'm going to just recaulk with clear.So when I was told that these cinclips would mount into pressboard and hold my fully filled sink, garbage disposal and associated plumbing, I was skeptical. And it turns out I was wrong. Most importantly, the litoon undermount sink support kit can easily press the gasket /bolt firmly, then tight the sink clip. I'm sure other people might encounter difficulties based on their kitchen cabinet setup. I was fortunate that kitchen cabinets are modular with vertical boards located 2" to the outside of my kitchen sink, providing me a perfect location to mount the Cinclip bases. Overall, including recaulking, I remounted and repaired my sagging sink in about 1.5 hours total.
Here is a nice picture of an undermount sink, just loved the angle, almost like a spider has just crawled out of the plug hole and took the picture:-) I had an undermount sink that was improperly installed by the contracter. After nine years, the sink sagged and pulled away the caulk, causing a leak, mildew, and other bad things to happen. Now, as mentioned above, you cannot use a laminate worktop with an undermount sink. This is because once laminate worktops have had the sink hole cut out, the MDF inners become exposed and water exposure straight onto this would, over time, ruin the worktop. Should I ever need to remount another fallen kitchen sink, I will most likely use the cinclips system again. It's simply too convenient, especially given that it can be used the same day as installation.I dont have a cabinet. Basically could not find anything on market that I liked so set about to create something that might work for the space I have (not very large)
I was able to fit the sink myself and made the sink mounting stronger than ever before. The only thing I wish that I could do to make Cinclips better is that I wish the fifth arm was full length. My sink is pulled out a bit from the wall, so the fifth arm wasn't much use. The cinclips have now been installed for a month. The sink did initially settle about a quarter inch and pull away from the silicone I had used as a sealant. I reapplied the silicone 2 days after installation and have had no peeling away since. I believe this would have been avoided if I had gone with the gorilla tape and not the duct tape.
