About this deal

My 9-year-old daughter devoured it in two nights, and all I could hear from her was giggling and the occasional "Mum! Listen to this! This is SO me!". We can’t miss out The Princess Diaries – a classic series by Meg Cabot, but do read the books before you watch the films. Funny, warm-hearted and full of drama, they are a must-read. Finally, sisters can also be friends – or not! Cathy Cassidy’s Chocolate Box Girls series is about step-sisters, and explores this sibling friendship dynamic. Join in!

It’s Lottie Brooks’ second term at Kingswood High and she feels better prepared for the banana skins that life at school tends to throw in her path. Lottie navigates the perils of growing up in this fantastically funny new illustrated series for pre-teens filled with friendship, embarrassing moments and, of course, KitKat Chunkys.

Her growth through the book is huge and she ends her diary with the message that you shouldn't do anything you don't want to do just because someone tells you to and actually it's okay to just be you. Which I think every preteen (or tween as some in my class like to be referred as!) needs to hear. She openly discusses what her body is going through (or not going through) during puberty and comparing it to everyone else. From an adult point of view, I liked how her mum talked about it with her and celebrated her changing body and didn't make her feel like it was something to feel shameful about. We need more body positive talk! Teraz ako mám skúškové, tak mi dobre padla taká ľahká kniha, ktorá sa super rýchlo a ľahko číta. Plus je milé si zaspomínať na časy, kedy ma netrápili "seriózne" problémy. There are a lot of Dork Diaries books to read, and once the super-fan is happy to move on, here are some books that are equally enjoyable.

The extremely embarrassing life of Lottie Brooks is a relatable funny book about an eleven and 3/4 year old girl starting secondary school. It is set in England 2021 and so is very new. As an 11 year old girl myself I know a lot about the subjects and I feel Katie Kirby has captured each problem and added humor to it. The character of Lottie is so relatable too. I know I'm years away from my own childhood but my memories are pretty strong. I know all too well the realities of so called 'popular girls' (although in my school it was actually both the girls and the boys who were equally mean) making fun of me for the slightest thing. And although this is a humorous book that had me laughing out loud in some places, there were also some emotional moments where Lottie is crying in bed.If you want two perspectives, try The Offline Diaries by Yomi Adegoke and Elizabeth Uviebinené, where Ade and Shanice become instant friends. But then Ade is invited to hang out with the popular girls… If illustrations are important to this reader, try The Extremely Embarrassing Life of Lottie Brooks by Katie Kirby, which has similar doodle pictures, and the two-colour graphic novel Frankie’s World by Aoife Dooley. Both chart the main character’s often hilarious progress through the choppy waters of secondary school and friendship. Similarly, Loki by Louie Stowell has scribbles and drawings throughout it, and is the very funny story of the Norse god Loki forced to go to school as a human boy. Best Friends by Jacqueline Wilson is a classic and asks the question what would you do if your best friend moved miles away?

The first book in the hilarious new series for children by the bestselling creator of Hurrah For Gin. Perfect for fans of Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging and Dork Diaries. My daughter couldn't put it down and read it in 2 days. Read at breakfast, walking downstairs, tea time, in the bath. Hilarious, relatable and full of heart, for fans of funny and chaotic family stories. About This Edition ISBN:

Lottie Brooks is 11 3/4 and her life is already officially over - not only is she about to start high school without any friends or glamorous swooshy hair, she's just discovered she's too flat-chested to wear A BRA! aga kuna minu raamatukogus oli saadaval just see kolmas, haarasin ikka kaasa, et vähemalt saan siis praalida, et mul on loetud ja tal veel pole. siitpoolt küll erilist küpsust ei paista :P Finally, for a slightly older read, Glow Up, Lara Bloom by Dee Benson follows Lara, star of the school football team, as she and her friends ‘glow up’ to become the best possible versions of themselves. Funny friends From hilarious bestselling author, Katie Kirby, comes a brand-new Lottie Brooks story. This time it's CHRISTMAS!!! So obviously, being in my 30s, I'm not the intended audience for the story of Lottie but I feel working in a primary school, especially in a year 6 class, gives me some insights into their mind. And I want to start this review by saying I think all year six girls should read this book before going to senior school. The message of this book is so important and I really think that age group need to hear it.
