About this deal

A member of staff poured water but did not greet us. I was surprised that the woman who filled our water glasses and left without a word turned up 10 minutes later and introduced herself as our server. We had questions about the menu/drinks but had nobody to ask. Same with Betty. No one ever thought to seek her out and get her thoughts on the earliest of days with these future legends? Or maybe for Betty and Barbara it was a sore spot, considering they left and Flo, Diana and Mary went on to great achievements. I guess at this point we'll never know. Best case scenario is that the ladies left some record behind of their recollections. Next best case scenario is that they spoke about these things with their children who might be able to relay the stories, but it would be second hand. A complete transformation in sound. A lush, sweeping, melodic Philly style of production. The string sounds now mirror and further emphasise the vocals. Far more sparkle and cool, elegant pizzazz.

I don't think we will ever see a book about the Supremes that would capture the mass public. Mary did her version but she never really told the whole story. Diana's was a piece of fluff masquerading as "inspiration". True, Diana seems to not be one to focus on her past in a sentimental way. The closest we get to that are photo clips in concert during "Missing You". This was my first and last time visiting this restaurant. I've lived in the south for well over 16 years, I'm west Indian and I've also enjoyed authentic Louisiana cooking. I can throw down in the kitchen and I've enjoyed great southern food as well. Let's just say this however was not that. Talk about a disappointment. With a name like "Louisiana Creole Gumbo" me and my stomach were expecting delicious authentic food. Two Way Street' album, but which was unreleased by the time the Motorcity label folded in 1992. Had been scheduled for release as single MOTC 119. There was also an edited version [3.26], which was likely the version scheduled for Hot Records 'Best Of Motorcity Vol. 44' - but which also went unreleased. I cannot immediately locate a copy of the original version here, if one did become available on disc at a later date, or a currently available digital version. That said, the title seems to have been released this year by Achievement Records on 7" vinyl. Cannot confirm which version, although the version featured here on the album does seem most likely'] Outside of sensationalism spurred on by the musical "Dreamgirls", we haven't seen anything remotely touch on how important the Supremes were in bridging the gap of racism and sexism through music. However, that very racism and sexism is probably a big reason why we don't see more books about them. And of there were various touching tributes to Gordy family family members such as 'It's So Hard To Say Goodbye To Yesterday' and 'Pops, We Love You'.Yes, I know this hangs on the edges of the Motown universe, but I figured that for anyone who likes The Four Seasons and Frankie Valli AND liked and wanted more of their Motown material [which is here--released and unreleased], it would be helpful to know about this massive, detailed set that is coming in September 2022!

Of particular interest to Motown fans are the previously unreleased songs and mixes included on Discs 21 and 22 such as "My Eyes Adored You" recorded whilst with Motown. "Stop, Look, Listen to Your Heart" is the Stylistics song and I believe will surpass the version by Diana and Marvin. I have long felt that Ian Levine had, and still retains an astonishing breadth of vision...and which is probably underrated. But also, in some respects, what made him unique, extremely focused and hardworking, could also work against him. When the REFLECTIONS dvd were released years ago, I remember thinking that it was so dry compared to those issued on the Tempts, Four Tops, and the Miracles which at least had those still with us participating. I still think a great AMERICAN MASTERS or a mini-series done by say, Ken Burns, would be great. What's interesting about Diana to me, is the question of "how often does she have the opportunity to remember?" What I mean by that, is how often does she get interviewed and get asked in depth questions about the Supremes or her solo career in general? The Funk Brothers With Chaka Khan & Montell Jordan – Band Introduction / Ain't No Mountain High Enough 4:58

As stated in another review, I was told about this restaurant by the rental car shuttle bus driver at DTW. The Ric Tic instrsumentals are session players, and used as B sides to the A vocal.....but often credited to the vocal. i.e the A side group are not involved directly with the B. Much of their Motown work is excellent and I always love listening especially to my favourites on a regular basis. And did someone mention "The Night"?

This restaurant is also a nightspot with events several times a week. Nested in the heart Detroit’s eastside, Southern Fire Bistro and Lounge has become staple for upscale dining and parties and has a strict dress code which they describe as "no effort, no entry." Southern Fire Bistro and Lounge recently completed a fresh overhaul. The redesign features ambient lighting, lovely padded seats, and updated modern décor to set the mood for any intimate dinner or party. Flood's Bar & Grille I could go on, there were about a dozen things that disappointed me about an otherwise amazing meal. But crummy service is exhausting and so is writing a negative review. It was the same questions over and over again. Every now and then, some interviewer would ask something surprising and Mary would get to go into detail about something we had never heard before. Those moments are so special to me, especially now that Mary is gone.

much of Randy's books are relatively unbiased, his first and third being the most balanced IMO. if you take all of the books and piece them together, you probably have a fairly accurate general history. How long was Betty actually in the group? From 1959 to 1960? I can't imagine there was a lot of action in those early years; probably a handful of "performances", at best. Our very own Mowest Chameleon has contributed massively to this entire project and deserves huge thanks. What I've always wanted to see is photos of the early years, when there were 4 Primettes/Supremes. We've seen, what, 10 pictures over the years? Surely more exist. The ladies have all given the impression that from the first performance on, the Primettes worked pretty steadily. So I would expect Betty to be able to give some insight into that time. Meanwhile, you have to have a HEART to cook "SOUL" FOOD...because a RIGHT HEART wouldnt ALLOW you to sell ppl some MESS that you just SLAPPED together. That's the SOUL part. Also a well-known nightspot, you are likely to see anyone who's anyone at Flood's. They have been serving up some of the city's best drinks and soul food since 1987. They advise that locals and visitors alike (who are 21+) are welcome to stop in for drink specials during happy hour or enjoy entertainment from live bands and some of the city's hottest DJs. As far as the food goes, the fried lobster is a crowd-pleaser and comes with a delectable butter sauce. All their meals come with two sides and they offer the classic "Big 3" mac & cheese, collard greens, and candied yams.
