If you don't want to buy dozens upon dozens of amiibo, then don't. You're not missing anything out of the game you paid for. All you're missing is additional content above and beyond the game you paid for. Nintendo games still get free content too, and fair-priced DLC and add ons. They're still releasing Splatoon maps and weapons to date, stuff beyond what was originally announced for the August update.What does being a "basic function" have to do with anything? A lot of amiibo content is basic. In fact people complain when it's not. There is nothing special about a Wii U co-op mode that says it should be included free. Even if nintendo dosent own the amiibo data, they own the images the Amiiqo app uses and have a right to take legal action. In the original reveal trailer for the Shovel Knight amiibo, the base was gold, similar to the bases of the characters in the Super Smash Bros. line. During official production, the base was changed to a metallic purple. Also gamers are the only consumers I've seen have melt downs about new features...even smartphone fans that know their new shiny is obsolete in a year don't complain like this.
