About this deal

Red Vine leaf extract contributes towards good blood flow, along with Grapeseed extract which can help improve blood flow.

A systematic literature search was performed to identify trials that reported the impact of red vine leaf extract on CVI. The primary outcomes investigated were Leg (limb) volume, calf circumference, ankle circumference, tired and heavy legs, a sensation of tension, tingling sensation, and pain. The usual dose is 360 mg to 720 mg daily, but follow manufacturer’s instructions as the concentration of red vine leaf extracts vary. Only select supplements made to a pharmaceutical standard known as GMP, as low quality red vine leaf products (on sale in health food shops in Japan) were found to contain low levels of active polyphenols, and inconsistent levels per tablet. Researchers next assessed the best dose in a 12-week study involving 257 men and women with mild to moderate chronic venous insufficiency. One group took 360mg red vine leaf extracts per day, one took 720mg daily, while another took placebo. Red Vine Leaf Extract, Vitamin C (as Ascorbic Acid), Capsule Shell (Hydroxypropyl Cellulose), Grapeseed Extract, Bulking Agent (Microcrystalline Cellulose), Anti-Caking Agents (Magnesium Stearate, Silicon Dioxide). Rewards For Life

This was followed by another study, involving 248 patients with more severe chronic venous insufficiency, classed as moderate-to-severe. Half took 720 mg red vine leaf extract per day for 12 weeks, while half took inactive placebo. The red vine leaf extract significantly reduced lower limb volume by 20 ml more than placebo (27ml versus 7ml) with an associated decrease in leg pain. After 3 months of treatment, those who also received the red vine leaf extracts showed greater improvements in blood clotting factors and in the dissolution of the fibrin clot, with a more pronounced opening up (recanalization) of veins in the affected area. When taking the red vine leaf extract, blood flow through their skin capillaries (measured using a laser Doppler device) significantly increased (by +241.8 units compared with a reduction of -41.0 units with placebo). When taking red vine leaf extracts, oxygen levels in their micro circulation also improved, while swelling and leg circumference decreased.

In a study involving 30 people with acute deep vein thrombosis, all received usual medical treatment with anticoagulants, and half were also given red grape leaf extracts. One of the first studies to assess the effectiveness of red vine leaf extracts (Antistax) asked 71 people with leg swelling (due to chronic venous insufficiency) to take 360mg red vine leaf extracts, or placebo during two separate periods of 6 weeks. This meant that each person tried both treatments and acted as their own controls.Coleridge Smith, P. D. (2001). Update on chronic-venous-insufficiency-induced inflammatory processes. Angiology, 52(1_suppl), S35-S42. From the 56 studies, 5 trials were selected according to our inclusion criteria. Red vine leaf extract significantly improved numbers of outcomes (lower leg volume, calf and ankle circumference, tired, heavy legs, tingling sensation, pain, the sensation of tension in the legs, cutaneous microcirculation, and transcutaneous oxygen pressure) in only some trials. The tolerability for red vine leaf extract was reported good or satisfactory.

This product has been improved. At Healthspan we are constantly striving to provide products of the highest quality and sometimes that means we need to make changes to your supplements. Our new and improved Vein-Vine formulation now contains vitamins B1 and C, to support your heart health and blood vessels, while remaining at the same price as before. What is Vein−Vine? Russian physicians recently added red vine leaf extracts to the immediate medical treatment of patients presenting with acute deep vein thrombosis (blood clots in a large vein in the lower leg). To assess the efficacy and safety of once-daily doses of 360 and 720 mg RVLE (pharmaceutical extract code AS 195; Antistax Venenkapseln) compared to placebo in patients with stage I and incipient stage II chronic venous insufficiency (CVI). A cooling leg gel containing red vine leaf extracts that is designed to soothe and refresh tired, heavy legs, is also available.

If the leg vein valves collapse, then swollen veins become distended and tortuous and may bulge beneath the skin to form varicose veins. Holland & Barrett Leg Vein Formula is carefully developed to help maintain healthy circulation in the legs. The capsules contain Red Vine leaf extract which contributes to good blood flow in the legs, along with grapeseed extract and Vitamin C. Red vine leaf extracts stabilise the endothelial lining of tiny capillaries and promote their repair and reduce their permeability. This makes capillaries less leaky so less fluid passes from the circulation into the tissues to cause swelling of (oedema) of surrounding tissues.
